Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).A total of 30% of Secondary 1 places are reserved as Discretionary Places. Admission is based on applicants' general academic performance (40%), interview (20%), conduct (20%) and participation in activities (20%). Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
Equal emphasis is placed on developing students’ English and Chinese competence. Starting from S.1, the extended learning activities in Mathematics (S.1-S.3), Science (S.1-S.2), Physics (S.3), Chemistry (S.3) and Biology (S.3) are conducted in English. At the senior levels, various tutorials and refinement classes are organized to raise the students' performances, namely, the Saturday English Class, Chinese and English Lunch Oral classes and the English Speaking Days. Tailored curriculum is conducted from S.1 to S.6 to cater for different needs. Meanwhile, Putonghua is offered as a compulsory subject at the junior secondary levels and activities such as Putonghua Speaking Day, Singing Contest, and Speech Competition are organised throughout the year.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
1. Whole-person Education: Through a school-based curricula, students are offered a wide variety of ways to acquire knowledge, achieve their potential and develop a positive personality. 2. Life-wide learning is implemented to help students acquire essential skills through diversified learning experiences which include field trips and visits to destinations both within and outside Hong Kong. The school also coordinates with professional bodies to run programmes on self-management, communication, problem solving and leadership. 3. The Board of Studies constantly reviews the curricula to meet the challenge of changing times. In devising their school-based curriculum, the subject panels take into consideration the abilities and interests of students, the latest philosophy of teaching and educational reforms. Life and Society is run in junior forms to foster social responsibility, sustainable development and multiple perspectives on contemporary issues. 4. To cater for learner diversity, small-class teaching is organized in S.5 Chinese Language, S.6 Liberal Studies as well as S.4 to S.6 Mathematics. Students who have special talents are encouraged to sign up for courses offered by the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education and participate in various competitions.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
1. Reading culture – the school has an extensive reading scheme and morning reading session. Regular activities such as writer’s seminars, book exhibitions, book sharing by teachers and students and reading clubs are organized. The number of books borrowed and reports submitted has been increasing significantly. Each year, we receive prizes in the HK Chinese Book Report Competition.
2. Google Classroom and Zoom are used to foster collaboration and promote IT education. The STEAM education comprising Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math continues to nurture knowledge, positive values and generic skills in students. For example, S1 students learn the mechanics of aquaponics (co-existence of fish and plants) while S2 students study basic programming and engineering design. This year we have taken part in the government’s IT Innovation Lab scheme and will run AI and Drone Coding workshops.
3. Moral and values education –dedicated moral and sex education lessons, class teacher periods, little tutor scheme, together with growth support activities run by social workers are organized to nurture in students positive values and attitudes: Care for others, Responsibility, Law-abidingness, Respect and Diligence.
4. National and civic education – topics of national and civic education are integrated into the Citizenship and Social Development Curriculum with the focus on enhancing the understanding of citizens’ rights and obligations, social values and norms, national identity and world citizenship.

Life Planning Education:
In our school at different grade levels, life planning and career guidance lessons are conducted to foster students’ self-understanding, analyse their strengths and weaknesses, as well as introduce the various education and career opportunities. Through the empowerment of students, it is hoped that they will be able to make informed and responsible choices on their learning, career goals and other aspects of life. Between 2020 and 2022, the Careers Committee organised over 50 activities. For junior students, information on further studies and careers are disseminated by means of questionnaires, games, pamphlets, sharings at the morning assemblies and film shows in the afternoon. For S.3 students, the choice of streams and subjects for S.4 is of utmost importance. To equip them with the knowledge, an introductory talk is held in four consecutive afternoon sessions. A guidebook for the NSS curriculum is also printed to help them make the most suitable choice. Senior students have to face the challenge of going to university. A series of talks, seminars and visits are organised to inform them of the requirements and procedures. For those who wish to study abroad, we also help them sign up for talks related to further studies. To help students better understand the real workplace, we have organised over 30 activities which include summer internships. During the summer, short-term certificate courses are also run for students to broaden their career horizons. We also offer Applied Learning options (Western Food Preparation, Hotel Service Operations, Child Care and Education, Sports and Fitness Coaching & Film and Transmedia Studies), so that S.5 students can attend supplementary programs outside the formal curriculum. Above all, the provision of individual counseling for all S.5 and S.6 students on further studies and careers has always been our focus. 1. A native English-speaking teacher is responsible for daily English activities.
2. Our school believes in the education of the whole person and strives to provide a supportive and caring school environment for students. In this regard, we have adopted a whole-school approach to assist students with special educational needs. To cater for their different needs, special arrangements are made in the school policies, inclusive measures and the promotion of a caring school ethos. A dedicated committee comprising a teacher coordinator, a school psychologist, social workers, teachers and activity assistants is ready to help students with special needs and make adjustments in the school routine if necessary. Meanwhile, the school psychologist can assess and identify the needs of a student, offer advice to relevant parents and teachers and devise an individualized study plan to cope with the difficulties. By using various subsidies, we coordinate with other professional bodies to offer special programmes such as speech therapy, volunteer training, NSS English and Liberal Studies courses. While at school, we also offer enrichment classes in Chinese and English writing, social skills as well as a wide range of inclusive activities to enhance students’ learning efficiency and communication skills. We treasure home-school cooperation. Besides the regular meetings and communication channels, there are sharing sessions for the parties concerned to follow up the progress of the students and formulate support plans.
