Chinese Y.M.C.A. Secondary School is a DSS Co-ed secondary school located in Hong KongThe school was founded in 1961. The school is located in Yuen Long, and covers an area of approximately 8000 square meters. The supervisor/chairman of the school management committee is Ng Kwai Wah, Anthony Mr.,And the principal is Cheung Fu Wah, Frederick Dr. (B.A., P.G.D.E., M.A.I.S., M.A. Ed.D). The sponsoring body of Chinese Y.M.C.A. Secondary School is The Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong and is a Protestantism / Christianity school. The mission of the school: "Our school was founded by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong in 1961. We aim at providing quality Christian education to bring out the best in pupils spiritually, morally, intellectually, physically, socially and aesthetically in accordance with the Bible and the teaching of Jesus. Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

During summer holidays, a bridging course is designed for all pre-S1 students and an orientation day is conducted for all new S2-S4 students so as to help them adapt to campus life. Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
The medium of instructions for junior students is mainly in English so as to enhance their English efficacy. Senior students can select the medium of instructions for their elective subjects in order that they can fully grasp the subject knowledge and achieve the best grades.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
Our school advocates “CHING-CHUNG G21 Empowerment Learning”. In order to provide appropriate kits and strategies to facilitate empowerment learning, we are going to further develop diversified teaching methodology on a Google-based interactive e-learning platform which allows students to learn beyond the limits of time and space. Teachers would be able to tailor-make diversified teaching materials on this platform to better cater for individual students' needs. Materials like tutorial videos, lesson broadcast, interactive surveys, live-broadcast of activities, lesson notes, and assessments will all be made available on the platform to facilitate students' learning. Students can make full use of the materials for lesson preparation and consolidation. They would also be able to discuss with their peers and teachers, ask each other questions, do exercises and assignments, take assessments, and receive timely feedback inside and outside classrooms. Moreover, students are allocated into classes according to mixed abilities so as to avoid labeling effects. However, for the subjects of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics, students are allocated into different small groups according to their abilities to cater for their individual needs.

School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 3X. We offer more than 300 subject combinations to suit students' individual interests and ability to prepare them for their future.
2. Curriculum highlights: We provide various activities to promote students' sense of responsibility, respect and care for others, as well as the ability to differentiate right from wrong. The activities are : DEAR Time (Drop Everything And Read), morning assemblies, lunch time activities, weekly assemblies, pastoral time, co-curricular activities and other whole-person activities.
Moreover, in order to increase learning efficacy, we design school-based curricula for Business Studies, Chinese History, Christian Education, Information and Communication Technology, STEM in junior forms.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
Through DEAR TIME reading, morning assemblies, lunch time activities, Religious Education, pastoral time and local and overseas study trips, we instill moral and civic education in students.
We develop students' learning habits through daily editorial reading in the morning, DEAR time and other reading programmes.
With the support of our school’s wireless network system, the use of Chromebook, Google applications and other e-learning platforms enable our students to develop good self-learning habits.

Life Planning Education:
We collaborate with Chinese Y.M.C.A. of Hong Kong (Life Planning Section) to offer our school-based life planning programme, which aims at fostering students' self-understanding, personal planning and goal setting abilities. Through various career exploration opportunities, including workplace / tertiary institute visits, career talks, Chinese New Year Fairs, mock interview workshops, career / personality tests, and summer internship programmes, students are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to make well-informed and wise choices in accordance with their own interests, abilities and orientations.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
In order to cater for individual needs, students are allocated into different small groups according to their abilities for the subjects of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics. We have two different timetables for the first and second terms in order to provide our students with suitable and flexible courses to suit their needs. For senior forms, we offer more than 300 subject combinations to suit students’ individual interests and ability to prepare them to make the best choice for their future. We organize after-school courses to cater for students’ different learning needs and their growth.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
The school's Inclusive Education Committee consists of the SENCO, the SEN-teachers, and social workers. We provide support and training to teachers and amend appropriate courses and assessments for students with special educational needs (including local and NCS students) so that students with different needs can learn and grow with our timely and appropriate care. We communicate with parents of students with special educational needs on a regular basis, listen to parents' opinions and report about students' learning progress. In addition, we use the Learning Support Grant and the Grant for Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Students with Special Educational Needs to invite external professionals or teams to provide support and counseling services for students in need such as Chinese and English reading and writing training courses, concentration training groups, social training group and support group for NCS students with special educational needs, etc.

Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment:
In the assessment of teaching and learning, we put emphasis on the application of Assessment for Learning to enhance the effectiveness of students' learning. Subject teachers adjust their method of assessment according to students’ ability for timely and appropriate feedback. We therefore conduct various kinds of formative assessments to evaluate students' progress in order to offer more incentive for them to learn actively and effectively. Teacher Professional Training and Development:
We have an outstanding teaching force. All our teachers possess a bachelor degree as well as professional qualification. More than 40% of our staff holds a master degree or doctorate degree. All English and Putonghua teachers have passed the Language Proficiency Assessment. According to the comments in the External School Review for our teachers: “The teachers exhibit a caring attitude towards students and have good rapport with them. Diversified in-school support is in place to enhance students' confidence."
With the implementation of "CHING-CHUNG G21 Empowerment Learning”, all our teachers have been awarded the "Google Certified Educator Level 1". Many teachers have further been awarded certificates in Level 2. In addition, some teachers are qualified Google Trainers.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):

Our school has turned a new leaf in 2018 by becoming the first & only Google Reference School in Hong Kong and the eighth in Asia.

Overall performance of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) in recent years:
• The average passing percentage in all 19 subjects taken was 90% which was far above the Hong Kong standard;
• The percentage of level 2 or above in 5 subjects was 80% which was above the Hong Kong standard;
