Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).All Primary six students who apply to our school will be offered an interview opportunity. Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

(1) "Summer Bridging Course" is organized for Primary 6 students. ‘English Camp’ and STEM-related topics for one week each.
(2) Our school places emphasis on students' development on the STEM subjects. A Dr STEM scholarship is especially awarded to five F.1 students. The awardees will have the opportunity to participate in an overseas science study tour for free.
(3) A series of "Secondary One Orientation Guidance Activities" will be organized by the Guidance and Discipline Team, Student Fellowship and the captains of the four Houses before the school starts. These activities aim at caring for students' whole-person growth, establishing a sense of belonging to the campus, and inheriting the culture of SWC family.

School Facilities (for Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs)

(1) To complement the senior secondary curriculum, our school has established the ‘Biotechnology Learning Center’ to enable students to develop further in the field of science.
(2) Various special rooms have been set up in the school campus to enhance learning. These include the English Self-access Learning Centre, the History Resource Room, Biotechnology Learning Centre, Scientific Innovative Learning & Teaching Centre, the Life Planning Resource Room.
(3) To provide students a comfortable, quiet and spacious environment to do self-study and revision, the Study Centre has been set up.
(4) Our school has been installed with an Eco-gym, indoor rowing machines and a gymnasium. They help promote a culture of fitness as well as the importance of environmental protection.
(5) In order to facilitate iPad learning, wireless broadband optical fibre networks have been installed throughout the whole school.
(6) The school intranet offers useful websites and resource bank for students to consolidate their learning.
(7) The tuck shop and the covered playground are also equipped with air-conditioning facilities, so that students will have a comfortable environment in hot weather.

Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
(1) The medium of instruction in junior levels (F.1-2) is mainly Cantonese whereas Integrated Science is taught in English.
(2) Native English Teacher is assigned to teach General English in some classes, in order to maximize students’ opportunities for interacting in English.
(3) Our students can enhance their English proficiency through English Speaking Days and overseas study tours.
(4) There are 14 English teachers and 2 Putonghua teachers in our school. All of them have received relevant training in the subject matter and have met the LPAT requirement. There are also 13 Chinese teachers. All the English and Chinese teachers have received subject-specific degree training.
(5) Two extra native teachers have been recruited to increase the opportunities for students to communicate in English through activities both inside and outside the classroom, in order to arouse their interest in learning English.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
(1) With the support of the e-learning resource bank, a ‘student-centred’ learning and teaching approach has been advocated to develop a creative and specialized school-based curriculum which builds a learning environment that is not limited by region, time and space.
(2) To strengthen the learning ability of students as "autonomous learners" and cater for learners’ diversity.
(3) Through a variety of project learning tasks, students are expected to develop the generic skills. An emphasis is placed on thinking training and cultivating multiple intelligence.
(4) Lesson studies will be conducted in order to recognize the difficulties in students’ learning and enhance teaching effectiveness.
(5) Review teaching materials to ensure that teaching and learning resources are matched to the curriculum and the content is appropriate and of high quality.

School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students can choose from 14 elective subjects in the senior curriculum.
2. Curriculum highlights: New Senior Secondary Curriculum:
(1) In line with the " Optimising the Four Senior Secondary Core Subjects " reform of the Education Bureau, our school offers a total of 14 elective subjects in the new senior secondary curriculum. Students can choose a combination of subjects with great flexibility.
(2) In order to allow students to learn extensively, three of the five classes in the senior forms take three elective subjects, and the other two classes take two elective subjects and one Applied Learning subject or a core subject competency strengthening course;
(3) Students of one of the F.4 classes take three STEM-related elective subjects to enhance the synergetic effect among the subjects;
Highlight of School-based Curriculum including:
(1) the school-based Chinese Language Curriculum and Reading Period, English Language Native English Teacher Oral lessons, experimentation and inquiry-based Science curriculum, and school-based STEM curriculum.
(2) School-based Non-DSE curriculum is introduced in senior forms including Coding and Creative Media, Visual Arts, Music, Sports Science, Science Inquiry and Financial Management Education, to foster students’ whole person development and explore life planning.
(3) Study tours, project learning, leadership training courses and extracurricular activities are organized to promote life-wide learning. Students can widen their learning experience and develop their generic skills through the activities.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
(1) In order to promote the reading atmosphere in our school, we have established Morning Reading Sessions, Secondary One and Two Reading Lessons and reading scheme. (2) Apart from extended reading activities organized by different subject panels, a great variety of reading activities are jointly held by the school library and different subjects. (3) Teachers and students are encouraged to make good use of online platforms. Students are also trained to use online self-learning platforms and application programmes via tablet PCs since junior forms. (4) Four teaching days are arranged as Life-Wide Learning Days every academic year and students of different forms take turns to carry out project learning. (5) A variety of moral education programs are carried out to encourage students to live by virtues. Life education is promoted through Christian Education and Christian Ethics, which are conducted in small groups.(6) Making good use of the platform of ‘Speech under the National Flag’ for the weekly flag-raising ceremony, the principal and teachers share to enhance students' understanding of the Chinese national morality and development, so as to cultivate students' national identity. Through subjects and activities, the constitution and the basic law education is promoted, and students' values of law-abiding is cultivated.

Life Planning Education:
(1) Seeing the importance of career development, our school has devoted to enhance students’ abilities of practising their life and career planning and goal setting via excursions to institutes, summer school programmes organized by different institutes, assemblies and school-based goal-directed curriculum of life education. (2) To recruit one Life Planning Counsellor, who enables students to make prudent education and career decisions through individual and group counselling. (3) The Life Planning Resource Room is established, which provides resource materials for teachers and students.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
(1) To help elite students strive for excellence, gifted students of different subjects are recommended to join elite programmes, experiential courses at university and inter-school competitions.
(2) The enrichment programme is organized for elite students, aims to boost their performances in HKDSE.
(3) Students are encouraged to participate in different competitions in order to explore and fully develop their potentials.
(4) Constructing the atmosphere of self-learning and optimizing the teaching and learning effectiveness, learning support measures and policies to cater for different learning needs (including lesson studies and lesson observations) are coordinated by the school.
(5) Revision classes and homework counselling programmes which encourage students' reflective skills and facilitate strength development are organized.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
(1) A professional team comprising of the "Special Education Needs Coordinator", "Special Education Needs Support Teachers", Educational Psychologists and Speech Therapists has been formed to implement the "whole school participation" model of integrated education. Relevant budgets have been allocated and resources are used to take care of students by providing assessment, referral, counselling and training services. The team maintains close communication with parents of students with special educational needs and provide appropriate support measures for students with special educational needs.
(2) After-school support programmes including executive skills and social skill classes, literacy enhancement classes, mathematics revision classes and emotion regulation training programmes are organized based on students' diverse needs. Speech therapists are hired to provide regular training of speech and communication skills to students and collaborate with teachers and parents.

Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment:
(1) Students' performance is continuously assessed in various forms, such as book reports, projects, enquiry learning and problem solving assignments. There are two uniform test and two examinations in each academic year. Moreover, quizzes are arranged regularly to assess students' learning progress.
(2) Implementation of diversified assessments for learning, such as book reports, project learning report, open-inquiry and problem-solving questions, and a comprehensive assessment of student academic performance.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
(1) For the purpose of enhancing communication between parents and our school, a Parents’ Day and two Parents’ Nights are held every year. An extra of three more meetings, such as Orientation Days and gatherings are organized for Form 1 students and parents so that parents can understand more about our school. (2) According to the needs of parents of different forms, talks or workshops for School-based assessment and subject selection etc. will be held. (3) The Parent-Teacher Association organizes a variety of recreational activities such as outings, workshops, interest courses, voluntary services and parent talks. (4) In addition to the report cards, student performance reports which outline students learning and discipline performances are regularly distributed in order to promote home-school communication.

School Ethos:
(1) Our school places emphasis on both discipline and love. While practising strict rules, we also promote a caring atmosphere. (2) We advocate a whole-person education based on biblical truths. We aim at educating our students to develop a positive attitude towards life. (3) Through positive discipline and counseling, students’ growth groups and the ‘two class teachers’ policy, our teachers are able to develop an effective support network for our students. (4) Moreover, there is a wide range of conduct award schemes to enhance students’ self-esteem, self-confidence, exemplary conduct and love for others. Future Development

School Development Plan:
(1) In order to cater for learner diversity, different teaching strategies, such as "e-learning", "tiered questioning" and "group activities" are adopted to design lessons and assignments of different dimensions and levels of difficulties in accordance with students' learning difficulties. (2) Students' autonomous learning ability is strengthened so they are able to form questions and set learning goals in class. (3) As far as whole person education is concerned, the school is committed to strengthening the development of student communities, through diversified campus life experiences, establishing good interpersonal relationships among students, and enhancing students’ resilience; and through the promotion of life education, students’ correct values will be established and their sense of responsibility, empathy, ethics and national identity will be cultivated.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
(1) To equip teachers with the knowledge of the latest educational development and get them involved in the school development, all teachers are invited to attend seminars and workshops on the three staff development days. (2) In addition, our teachers have collaborative lesson-planning sessions. There is also a lesson observation week, teaching demonstrations and new teacher mentoring scheme to enhance teachers’ effectiveness. (3) Teachers from different subjects actively participate in professional support and collaboration programmes to further develop their professionalism.
(4) The Science Education Team of our school serves as the coordinating school of the QEF Thematic Network on “Creative STEM Education Driven by Scientific Investigation”, leading more than 6 secondary schools and 2 primary schools to develop school-based STEM curriculum.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
(1) There are more than 40 extra-curricular activities ranging over six areas: Subject-based Clubs, Interest Groups, Physical and Aesthetic Activities, Community and School Services, Performing Art and Religious Activities.
(2) The classes of ‘Other Learning Experiences’ tailor-made for all F.1 and F.2 students provide a variety of physical and aesthetic activities.
(3) In order to facilitate whole-person development, a host of school-based physical and aesthetic elective subjects (Music, Sports Science, Visual Art, Design and Technology, Technology and Living, Coding and Multimedia, Science Inquiry and Financial Management) are offered in senior forms. We have Christian Ethics Education and assemblies to strengthen students' morality.
(4) Student Retreat Day allows students to reshape their growth direction, feel the support, and strengthen the motivation of life by reflecting on solitude and talking with their class teacher.
(5) A student union, four clubs and ten service teams have been set up.
(6) Our school has designed an innovative leadership training programme. Students are required to develop their full potential and strive for excellence through programmes like workshops, internship programme and leadership training camp.
(7) The school encourages students to participate in a variety of community services. "Elder Academy" is set up by the cooperation with YWCA to provide our students the opportunities to serve the elderly in our neighbourhood.
(8) The Moral and Civic Education Committee has organised environmental and volunteer activities.

Others

(1) With reference to the HKDSE results of 2022, our students have achieved outstanding performance. The average passing percentage of the four core subjects is higher than 90%; the percentages of fifteen subjects including the electives are higher than 90%, and eleven of them reached 100%. The percentages of level 3 or above in fourteen subjects are higher than 50% and seven of them have reached 70% or above. The percentages of level 3 or above in the core subjects have reached 54%; and the percentages of students who got Level 5* or above in four subjects are higher than their counterparts in Hong Kong. (2) Scholarships (subject to the selection interview) are awarded to outstanding students in Form 2 and Form 3 to join the English study tour. (3) The school library is committed to organizing diversified reading activities and has won numerous high-quality library recognition awards. The librarian is often invited by different schools to share reading strategies and experiences. (4) Our school was chosen as the Information Technology Enrichment Program partner schools (there are only eight schools in Hong Kong). Funded with six million dollars by the Government, we will carry out projects and IT enrichment courses throughout the eight-year period, from 2015 to 2022. Students’ interests, potentials and abilities in using IT can be developed. Teachers in the field of technology education also won the Curriculum Leadership Success Experience Award. (5) Our school STEM Team has made prominent achievements in different competitions such as the China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest, the Hong Kong ICT Award and the Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition. Our school is the first school which has been awarded the title of "Quality STEM School" for three consecutive years in Hong Kong. (6) Child Development Fund: co-organizing the ninth batch of school-based projects of the Child Development Fund with the charity "Happy City Lab", we build a foundation for students' future development through targeted savings, personal development planning and mentoring. (7) Making good use of various grants from the Education Bureau and funding from the School Board of Directors to enrich scholarships and grants for different co-curricular activities.
Other school features-exploring faith:
(1) Our school offers subjects of Christian Education and Ethics. Students are put in small groups and taught by their class teachers and subject teachers. (2) We work closely with Chinese Christian & Missionary Wah Yan Church to cultivate students' spiritual growth in all aspects. (3) Through various activities, such as fellowship, morning devotion, gospel week, disciple training camp, life orientation camp, etc., students’ spiritual life has been nurtured. (4) Different professional organizations such as Chinese Christian & Missionary Sheung Shui Church and Yau Oi Church, Fellowship of Evangelical Students (H.K.), Love Foundation, Great Wall Education Foundation were introduced to support campus gospel work.

(1) Our school believes that a professional teaching team can effectively promote school development and provide students with quality education.
