Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
1. Our school has adopted Small Class Teaching (SCT) in Junior Secondary cohorts. Chinese is, and has been used as the main medium of instruction in all subjects, except for the subject English Language.
2. We also aim to promote English-oriented activities on a wider scale by creating simulated learning environment, which stimulates English learning and gives students opportunities to put their acquired knowledge to use.
3. Develop English enhancement course.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
1. To develop students' self-directed learning abilities and habits: Every subject will help students draw up level-based, self-directed learning and e-learning strategies to get them into the routine of being prepared for class and consolidating what they have learnt after class.

Diversified Learning Programmes (DLP) (no official translation) are introduced to all students to help them gain sufficient and well-balanced experience as well as exposure in a broad range of areas, including moral and civic education, social service, vocation, sports, and aesthetics, so as to grant them the opportunities to develop their potentials.
c. Other Learning Experiences (OLE) are introduced into the Senior Secondary curriculum. OLE offers certified courses to better equip students with extra-curricular recognition and add value to their talent.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
School-based curriculum and diversified teaching activities have been adopted to cater for individual needs of students. Small-class teaching is arranged for S.1-S.3 English and Chinese classes, take care student with learning difference. After-school tutorial classes are conducted to cater for individual needs.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
The Student Support consists of the Vice Principal, SENCO, teachers from Discipline Team and Guidance Team, residential social worker, teachers from Chinese Department and English Department, residential Educational Psychologists.
To provide a comprehensive support for students with SEN, our support includes student learning, student growth, home-school communication and teacher training.
In the students’ learning aspect, our school forms a Collaborative Teaching Group to implement "School-based Collaborative Teaching Support for Students with Special Education Needs Pilot Scheme" through lesson study to implement a series of teaching strategies to support students with SEN to learn effectively.
Regarding student growth, our school provides career-oriented planning courses for students of different grades. The training content is based on the secondary school curriculum and incorporates elements of personal interests, life experience and career-oriented development.
In terms of home-school communication, our school provides a platform between parents, the residential Educational Psychologists and the SENCO on the Parents' Day to comprehend about the policy on the public examinations’ Special arrangement for candidates with SEN, student case follow-up and learning outcomes.

Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment:
We develop our curriculum based on “Assessment for Learning”. This helps students devise clear goals and gain a better understanding of learning benchmarks. Lessons also adopt a student-oriented mode of teaching which encourages student participation, thus students’ capabilities and learning progresses are assessed in more detail, and curriculum can be modified accordingly.

Through conducting continuous assessments, term exams, and final examinations, students’ learning outcomes are better understood. The collected information is further evaluated to help perfect and fine-tune teaching curriculum.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
A regular liaison system among parents and class teachers has been set up to facilitate Home-School Co-operation. Diversify activities including workshops for parents, family outings and visits etc are being held by the school and PTA.

School Ethos:
With the unity of our Discipline and Counselling teams, not only that we adopt strict policy to ensure that school rules are abided by students, we also strive to guide students in their growth. Meanwhile, we emphasize the development of students' self-discipline and self-esteem. Two class teachers are assigned in every class of the junior forms in order to strengthen connection and communication among teachers and teachers. Besides, an "Infinity Fun Award Scheme" is being implemented to raise students' self-confidence and self-awareness.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
A mentoring scheme is being implemented to provide appropriate support and guidance for our newly recruited teachers. Also, teacher workshops, seminars and exchange activities are held annually. In addition, peer lesson observation and collaborate planning before lessons are carried out in school in order to promote professional exchange, encourage sustainable education as well as develop our school into a learning organization.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
We have had many award-winning achievements in various Science and Technology competitions. Not only do we often win in the inter-school competitions, but our students have also represented Hong Kong to participate in large-scale international competitions for 7 consecutive years.
We organize a great number of study tours annually to let our students get out of their classrooms and learn in a different way. Our footsteps have covered the U.S., Canada, Australia, (New Zealand), Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Taiwan, Mainland China (Beijing, Nanjing and Fujian) etc.
Our whole year dynamic school activities include Sports Days, Cross Country Run, English Week, STEM Week, Chinese and History Week, Science Week, Social Science Week, Current Affairs Quiz Show, Chess Competition, Music Day, Ball games Day, Dress Casual Day, etc.
We have 50 extra-curricular activities / teams like Track and Field Team, Cross Country Team, Street Dance Team, English Ambassadors, Taekwondo Class, Healthy Diet Class, Organic Farming Class, etc. Our students can also take part in various in-school recreational activities including chess games, ball games, talent performance and music enjoyment during lunch time and after school.
