Orientation Activities and Healthy Living
A summer orientation programme is organized for new Secondary One students to consolidate their Chinese, English & Mathematics. There is also an adventure-based activity to build positive life values in religious faith. Orientation Day, talks and parent-student day camp are organized for both parents and students to let them know more about the school so as to enable students to integrate into our school life.

School Management Organisation:
The Lutheran Church HK Synod has had years of experience in education in Hong Kong. With the setting up of Incorporated Management Committee in 2007, teachers and staff are able to participate in the school's planning and administration, realising the ideals of participative management. Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
The school emphasizes the mastery of Chinese, English and Putonghua. We use mother tongue in teaching to enhance students' understanding of knowledge, but we also strengthen our students' English. The school regularly organizes lively and interesting English activities to arouse their interest in English. In junior forms, there are Putonghua classes to strengthen students' ability in Putonghua. The school provides extra-support to Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students to improve their language learning.
Learning and Teaching Strategies:
The curriculum covers all Key Learning Areas. There are measures to facilitate curriculum integration, remedial teaching and small class teaching. Teachers are constantly engaged in continuous professional development. We embrace a culture of lesson observation and collaborative lesson planning to enhance effectiveness of teaching and learning. In classrooms, teachers use stimulating questions to raise students' motivation in learning. Our Life-wide Learning Programme aims at enriching our students' experience, enhancing their interest and motivating them to learn. 2. Curriculum highlights: Our school adopts different strategies to cater for students' diversity. In S.1, we have Workshops on Information Technology Skills, helping students to apply information technology skills wisely in daily life and in learning. We also promote cooperative learning and self-directed learning in the whole school so that students can learn with the support from their peers and set up learning plan according to their own abilities.
Development of the Four Key Tasks:
1. Reading to learn is emphasized in our school life. Every week, there are two sessions of morning reading for students and teachers to read together, and to develop a reading habit. To cultivate reading atmosphere, we have extensive reading schemes, and subject-based reading scheme to encourage wide reading. We also organize a variety of reading activities such as students & teachers sharing, hall of fame, reading (with a theme) fortnight, books recommendations and books exhibitions.
2. Our Moral and Civic Education is well-grounded in our curriculum and Other Learning Experience. For many years, we have received prizes from the Moral and Civic Education Award Scheme.
3. Project Learning and thinking skills are now an integral part in our S.1-S.2 curriculum to prepare our students for their senior secondary studies.
4. Our school promotes self-directed learning, encourage students to prepare for lessons and jot notes during and after each lesson for revision and reflection so as to develop a good learning habit. In addition, we also strive to develop IT for interactive learning and teaching. The whole school is covered with WiFi service to support IT for teaching and learning.
Life Planning Education:
Our school emphasizes life planning. We hold different kinds of activities for different forms to cater for their needs. For Junior Forms, we have aptitude test, training camp, life planning talk, careers quiz, comics design and book report competition. We also adopt the Junior Form Life Planning textbook. It is hoped that students can have a better understanding of themselves and the job world so as to set their goals at an earlier stage.
As for Senior Forms, we work for equipping our students with the skills they need for further study or working in future. We have aptitude test, careers talks, workshops, careers camp, overseas trip, job shadowing programmes, self-introduction writing class, English presentation class, personal counseling, job and university mock interview etc.

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
We care about every student's needs. A whole school approach is adopted to cater for students' diversity. We have small class teaching so that students with different foundations and learning abilities can progress in different groups and activities, with different pace and assessments. We also organize special classes for remedial and enhancement purposes. All students can enjoy a meaningful school life.
Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Our school is committed to developing an inclusive culture through the whole school approach (WSA) to support students with SEN. A student support team (SST) is established. Resources are deployed to provide appropriate and diversified support to students so as to enhance their learning and adjustment to the school life. The team members include the guidance teachers, class teachers, school social workers, the education psychologist, speech therapist, subject teachers and guidance assistants.
Adapted learning materials, homework strategies and/or assessment accommodation are provided to students in need. Their learning achievements are recorded and are reported to the parents when appropriate. We also assist our students in applying for public examination accommodation.
We treasure home-school cooperation. Regular communication channels are set up to facilitate parents’ participation with our team in formulating support strategies for students in accordance with their needs. Parent education is organized to equip parents with better understanding of children with SEN, so that they could render their support in alignment with various school measures.
We keep our teachers knowledgeable with upfront educational supports for SEN. Professional Groups are invited to conduct staff development programmes, including the WSA to support students with SEN, teaching strategies for students with special needs and theories on Invitational Education.

Since 2007, we have been promoting life education. Our students behave well and are self-disciplined. We enjoy good school ethos. We have two homeroom teachers for each class to look after students. In S.1, we have home visits to strengthen teacher-student relationship. We also have social workers, educational psychologists and speech therapist to help our students and parents.
