Hon Wah College is a DSS Co-ed secondary school located in Hong KongThe school was founded in 1945. The school is located in Eastern, and covers an area of approximately 5710 square meters. The supervisor/chairman of the school management committee is TSUI Yee Wan, Linda Dr.,And the principal is KWAN Wing Bun Mr. (B.Soc.Sc. (Hons.), Dip Ed., MEd.). The sponsoring body of Hon Wah College is Hon Wah Educational Organization and is a non-religious school. The mission of the school: "Provide quality education to the younger generation, and enhance the all-round development of students. Secondary One Entrance
Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).Applicants are required to attend an interview. In addition to the performance in interview, criteria for admission is also based on the academic performance, conduct grade of the primary school as well as the comments made by the school, credits will also be given to students with active participation in extra-curricular activities or strengths in other areas other than academic. Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
Emphasis has been put on the nurturing of students with proficiency in English and Putonghua; English classes are offered in S.1 to S.3 respectively (Mathematics, Life and Society, Integrated Science, Geography, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Literacy, Visual Arts, Music & Physical Education are taught in English). One of the classes in each junior form adopts English as the medium of instruction for all subjects. English learning groups are offered in S.4 to S.6 respectively (Citizenship and Social Development, Liberal Studies, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and History are taught in English). To enhance students' capabilities in both of the languages, Chinese for S.1 to S.6 are taught in Putonghua while, English, with Native English Teachers (NETs), English school-based curriculum, English drama course, English on-line reading program and overseas study tour, etc.

Curriculum highlights: A variety of school-based curriculum, based on the curriculum of Hong Kong and the advantages of other countries’ curriculum, is adopted by school, covering Life and Society, English drama, Geography of China and IT application in junior form. School-based curriculum is introduced for cross-curricular STEM education in junior form, STEAM Education, subjects relating to Humanities Education, top-notch lessons for language-related subjects, etc. to nurture students’ proficiencies in different aspects in meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
Development of the Four Key Tasks:
By means of curriculum adaptation of the key learning areas, Reading Scheme, Learning beyond the Classroom Approach and Sharing Sessions given by successful people to strengthen the development of the four major concerns: reading to learn, information technology for interactive learning, project learning and moral and civic education. Reading Award Scheme is implemented to encourage students to do more reading (including online books), while reading sharing session and school-wide reading time are also introduced for developing students’ multiple intelligences and language proficiency.
Life Planning Education:
Apart from providing individual consultations of life planning, we will also arrange several activities cooperated with different professional organizations. Hon Wah College Parents and Teachers Association has been formed since 1957 to strengthen the home-school connection and communication through the activities such as Parents’ Helpline, Parents’ Night, Home Visit Day, Parent-Child Picnic, Parent Volunteers, and Parents’ Talks.

Our teachers are keen on improving themselves pro-actively. They will attend the courses, seminars or workshops organized by EDB or other professional sectors from time to time for catching up with the educational development.
