The sponsoring body of Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Shatin) is Kiangsu Chekiang And Shanghai Residents (Hong Kong) Association and is a non-religious school. Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).The admission criteria and weightings for Secondary One Discretionary Places are as follows: performance in interview (30%); school results in Chinese, English and Mathematics (20%); conduct grade (20%); rank order provided by the Education Bureau (EDB) (20%); performance in extra-curricular activities and personal talents (10%).

Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

S.1 Bridging Programme of the school is organized in August every year. The programme covers academic subjects, study methods, self-management, English musical, musical instrument and dance workshops, and S.1 orientation activities, etc., aiming at enabling our S1 students to be well-prepared for the school life before the start of the school year. Besides, tutorial classes are held by our Alumni Association during the summer holidays for needy students.
To maintain students' physical fitness, the school is equipped with a gymnasium. Chinese Martial Arts, oriental and western dance as well as fitness training are integrated into the Physical Education curriculum. School Facilities (for Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs)

There are 3 lifts, 5 computer rooms, Multi-media Learning Centre, a broadcasting studio, a gymnasium, School History Room and over 30,000 books in the library. The air-conditioned school premises have a full coverage of WiFi. Each classroom is equipped with a computer, an LCD projector and a visualizer. A computerized roll call taking system and an information kiosk have been installed. We have a green school campus with a fish pond and a greenhouse constructed. The school sponsoring body allocated funds of HK$70 million to construct a six-storey school building which provides additional space of 20,000 sq. ft. and related facilities.

As for the domains of Management & Organization and Self-evaluation, the overall performance of our school was commended as 'Good' by the EDB External School Review. The principle of our school management is establishing a well-targeted and structured planning as well as a self-evaluation policy so as to attain sustainable self-improvement. Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
In our school, all subjects are taught in English except Chinese Language, Chinese History, Chinese Literature, Putonghua and Putonghua Drama which are taught in Putonghua. An authentic English and Putonghua learning environment is created to realize our language policy of biliteracy and trilingualism.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
According to the EDB External School Review Report, our school has shown good performance in the domain of Learning & Teaching. The school's curriculum is tailor-made to provide a balanced and diversified curriculum. Moreover, all subjects in our school are taught by teachers with subject expertise. Student-centred interactive teaching methodologies are adopted with a wide application of information technology. These enhance the learning and teaching effectiveness. Along with this, our school cultivates a reading culture, promotes STREAM education and project learning, combines classroom learning with extra-curricular activities and community services for all students, so as to nurture students' multiple intelligences and strengthens their generic skills.

School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 2X, 3X and 4X. Our S.4-S.6 Curriculum offers 12 elective subjects and Mathematics Extended Parts with over 400 subject combinations.
2. Curriculum highlights: A diversified curriculum is formulated according to the interest, ability and needs of our students. In addition to the incorporation of the element of English Literature into junior form English Language, English drama and Putonghua drama are also introduced. For the senior form curriculum, diversified Arts, Science, Commerce and Information Technology subjects are offered. There are also the inclusion of Chinese Martial Arts, oriental and western dance training in the curriculum of Physical Education, the conduction of Moral Education and Current Affairs Discussion as well as the integration of moral education, civic education, environmental education, health education, life planning and extra-curricular activities into the formal curriculum.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
1. Reading across the Curriculum──Our school has implemented the Reading Scheme with a whole-school approach, which includes morning reading sessions, reading lessons, Online Chinese and English Reading, and Reading Award Scheme. We have also set up the Reading Club. The element of reading is integrated into the studies of various academic subjects.
2. Information Technology for Self-directed Learning──Apart from the well-equipped information technology (IT) facilities, the school has set up an online learning platform to promote self-directed learning. IT is also widely used in teaching and learning to make lessons more interactive, interesting and effective.
3. Project Learning──To facilitate the integration and application of knowledge and skills across disciplines as well as inspire students' generic skills, cross curricular and STREAM education-related project learning is implemented in junior forms (S1-S3) while in senior forms (S4-S6), project work is conducted according to the curriculum development of individual subjects.
4. Values Education──The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing noble character and positive value-judgment. The measures taken include launching the Positive Youth Development Programme, Sexual-Abuse-Preventive Programme as well as moral education and guidance programmes. All students join charitable activities and participate actively in community services.

Life Planning Education:
Our school formulates and implements career and life planning strategies through cross-group collaboration. In addition to the implementation of 'Finding Your Colours of Life' and 'Career Mapping' programmes, various life planning activities are organized, e.g. conducting talks on the choice of F.4 subjects and career interest tests, inviting professionals to share on their working experiences, joining talks on further study and career pursuits. Moreover, we provide F.6 students with the updated information on university study by organizing JUPAS talks for both parents and students, inviting representatives of tertiary institutes to conduct briefing sessions on the programmes offered and admission requirements, conducting mock university admission interviews and mock HKDSE Examination result release, providing individual guidance and consultation on the choice of university programmes, arranging visits to universities in the territory and China as well as attending exhibitions on overseas study.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
Our school possesses an outstanding teaching team. There are 3 native English teachers, 12 Putonghua teachers, 7 additional teachers, 15 professional instructors and alumni tutors. Besides, small-class teaching is implemented for F.1 and F.6 English Language lessons, F.6 Chinese Language lessons, English Drama lessons, Putonghua Drama lessons, Enhancement Classes, Remedial Classes and Weekend Tutorial Classes. Academic support programmes like the S.1 Bridging Programme and subject tutorials are held after school, during free lessons and holidays. Our counselling teachers, social workers and educational psychologist offer care to cater for students' personal growth.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Our School has set up the Integrated Education Committee and adopts a whole-school approach to support the students with special educational needs (SEN). Resources have been flexibly deployed to provide proper and diversified support to cater for students' learning, behavioural, emotional and social needs and to ensure that SEN students have an equal opportunity to develop their talents. Our school has established a regular home-school communication mechanism and support measures are devised in consultation with parents so as to enhance the effectiveness of the support given to SEN students. Professional advice is sought from the educational psychologist and social workers for providing appropriate professional support to the SEN students.

Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment:
Apart from summative assessments taking the form of examinations, our school adopts formative assessments for evaluating our students' academic performance. Students' conduct and performance in daily assignments, project learning, classroom participation and extra-curricular activities are all assessed. Reports on students' conduct and learning performance are released to parents on a regular basis. Academically gifted students are awarded with scholarships, arranged to attend Enhancement Classes as well as nominated to join external gifted education courses and activities. Individual guidance and elite training are also provided by teachers. Students with weaker academic performance are arranged to join the Remedial Classes. There are also Weekend Tutorial Classes which provide academic support to students at all ability ranges.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
In a bid to strengthen the connection with our parents, the school has set up the Parent-Teacher Association to gather parents' opinions and provide support for parents. In addition, through holding different kinds of activities, such as talks, workshops, reading classes, sharing sessions, voluntary services, interest classes, picnics and parent-child activities, the school has built up a close collaboration with parents.

The school motto is "Be Orderly and Respectful" and we strive to nurture our students' positive personal traits and develop frugal school ethos. The EDB External School Review Report has commended our school for the good performance in the domain of School Ethos & Support to Students. School Development Plan:
1. Optimizing learning and teaching strategies to cater for the diversified learning needs of students so as to develop their potential to the fullest, as well as fostering their self-directed learning habits to obtain a continuous progress in their academic achievements.
2. Conducting programmes and activities organized by the school and offered by external professional organizations to foster students' positive values and attitudes, extend students' knowledge scope and horizons, as well as enable them to understand and respect different cultures and values.
3. Providing a six-year life planning programme and diversified learning experiences to help students have a clear understanding about their personal strengths and potential for goal setting and realization.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
Our school joined the university-school support programmes, e.g. the 'Promoting STEM Education at the Upper Primary and Secondary Levels by Using Self-directed Learning as a Strategy' project organized by the University of Hong Kong, 'the Quality School Improvement Project' organized by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc. Collaborative lesson planning, collaborative teaching, peer observation and school exchange activities are organized not just to enhance teachers' professional knowledge, but also establish professional learning communities for creation of knowledge. Teachers are proactive in professional development. They join various educational workshops and seminars as well as professional training courses on catering for students with special educational needs.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
Our students show outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities and over 400 prizes are obtained every year. Championships have been won in various world-wide, Asian and territory-wide competitions. Extra-curricular activities are integrated into the formal curriculum. There are over 60 clubs, uniforms groups, service teams and student organizations which provide diversified activities in academic areas, arts, sports, services, leadership training and interest development. There are also school campus TV broadcasting, moral education, environmental protection, civic education, career and life planning activities as well as community services. Every student joins the study, exchange and service tours to the Mainland and overseas countries at least twice in our school. Over the years, our students have shown outstanding performance in their moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic developments. Our school was awarded the Outstanding School Award──Students' Attainment by the EDB. Other major awards attained include Caring School Award, Active School Campus Award, Championships of the Hong Kong Green School Award and the Greening School Project Award, etc. In addition, External School Reviews were conducted in our school by the EDB in 2003 and 2010 respectively. Our school was highly commended in the domains of Management & Organization, Learning & Teaching, School Ethos & Student Support as well as Student Performance. In the HKDSE Examination 2022, our students attained outstanding results and the overall results were far better than the Hong Kong averages:
-Over 91% of our F.6 students attained '3322' or better in the 4 core subjects (English Language, Chinese Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies) while the Hong Kong average was 37%;
-Students attaining Level 4+ and Level 5+ reached 65% and 24% respectively while the Hong Kong averages were 36% and 13%;
-A total of 6 students attained 30 marks or more for their best 5 subjects (an average of 5 Level 5* or higher);
-The highest scorer attained 5 Level 5** and 2 Level 5*. There were no more than 59 candidates or 0.2% of all candidates in Hong Kong attaining this or better results (as per the attainment in the best 6 subjects).

On the whole, over 92% of our F.6 graduates were offered JUPAS degree or dual degree programmes and more than 41% were admitted to The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Students were also admitted to renowned mainland universities exempting from the entrance examination under the Scheme for Admission of Hong Kong Students to Mainland Higher Education Institutions.

In regard to Other Learning Experiences, our students won more than 400 prizes and scholarships in different open competitions and territory-wide student award schemes in 2021-22. Furthermore, in recognition of her outstanding all-round achievements, an HKDSE candidate from our school was awarded by the Home Affairs Bureau the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship, a full scholarship covering the programme fee of her undergraduate studies in the territory.
