Orientation Activities and Healthy Living
Orientation: S.1 Orientation Day and bridging programmes are held in August every year to help S.1 students better adapt to the new school environment. Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
Our school makes great effort to promote bi-literacy and tri-lingualism. We emphasise English learning and aim to enhance students’ English language proficiency. Medium of instruction is chosen according to students’ learning ability in English. From 2022/2023 academic year, Mathematics and Integrated Science are taught in English by phases in junior forms. Extensive reading schemes and e-learning platforms are implemented to promote self-directed learning and enhance students' language competency. The English Department organises a variety of life-wide learning activities to boost students' English proficiency. They include morning assembly speeches, Reading Aloud Programme, English Thursdays, Starfish publications, English activities held during Overseas Exchange Tours, Speech Festival, etc.
Learning and Teaching Strategies:
Our school adopts student-oriented, diversified learning and teaching strategies according to students' characteristics and abilities to cater for the diversity of students' learning. We are committed to promoting Information Technology education through e-learning platforms to strengthen teacher-student and student-student interaction, and cultivate students' initiative of learning. We promote self-directed learning, cultivate students' learning routines and habits, and enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching. We are also actively promoting STEM education, with STEM lessons at junior secondary levels and organise cross-curricular STEM activities, so as to enhance students' creativity, problem-solving skills and collaboration skills.
School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 2X and 3X. We offer 14 elective subjects and Mathematics extended modules for students to choose from. They can choose to study 2-3 elective subjects according to their interests and abilities.
2. Curriculum highlights: (a) The core values of Catholic education are incorporated into all subjects to strengthen values education. (b) The core subjects at junior secondary levels are divided into 6 groups. Through a variety of teaching methodologies, curriculum adjustments and tiered assignments, students' learning diversity can be better catered for. (c) STEM lessons at junior secondary levels help inspire students' STEM potential.
Development of the Four Key Tasks:
1. IT in Education: Being the Information Technology in Education Centre of Excellence, through cooperation with the Education Bureau for years, we have launched a series of programmes in information literacy and other areas. At junior secondary levels, “Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)” Programme allows e-Learning to be conducted inside and outside the classrooms.
2. Development of Reading Habit: A reading session is arranged every morning to develop students' reading habit. We have structured reading for Chinese, English and other subjects. Implementing "Bring Your Own Device", our school provides students with abundant online reading materials. Student Reading Ambassadors would also recommend books and share their experience with their schoolmates. Besides, book sharing sessions, author talks, book fairs and various competitions are organised to promote self-directed learning through reading.
3. Project Learning: STEM education is provided at junior secondary levels to allow students to conduct cross-curricular projects, so as to enhance their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
4. Moral and Civic Education: To promote moral and civic education, we incorporate Life Education lessons and Ethics and Religious Education lessons into our curriculum. In addition, we organise various voluntary services with other organisations. Through these community services, students are cultivated to have a sense of responsibility. Apart from that, we organise various local and overseas trips and competitions to enhance students’ social awareness and broaden their horizons.
Life Planning Education:
For life planning, we adopt the whole-school approach. Apart from incorporating life planning education into our regular curriculum for all forms and offering a Life Planning lesson specifically for S.6, we also organise various activities for our students, such as, Alumni Career Sharing Seminars, visits to universities and company visits. All these provide opportunities for students to understand themselves better and to strengthen their understanding towards different workplaces and study paths, which help our students to set their career goals throughout their secondary education.

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
Our school is a caring school. To cater for the needs of different students, our school organises various student support programmes every year such as individual and small-group peer counselling schemes. We adopt small class teaching for Chinese, English and Mathematics. We also encourage students to join various intramural and extramural activities about life experience. We hope students of different abilities can be properly taken care of. Besides, we can help to develop their potential and boost their self-confidence so that positive values and perspective of life can be further fostered and enhanced.
Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Our school is committed to building an inclusive and caring culture and promoting integrated education in a whole-school approach. The Student Support Team (SST) consists of the Vice-principal, Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCo), Counselling Mistress, Discipline Mistress, Integrated Education Support teachers, Educational Psychologist and Social Worker to provide ample and appropriate support to students with special educational needs.
We adopt a variety of training programmes and group activities, and provide individual counselling for students in need. We also use the “Learning Support Allowance” to outsource professional services such as speech therapy services, occupational therapy services and so on.
We regularly distribute up-to-date information about integrated education to all teachers, share relevant ideas and teaching suggestions, strengthen teachers' understanding of integrated education, and encourage staff to participate in the Education Bureau's training courses to enhance professional knowledge.
