Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

Our school organizes various orientation programmes for S.1 students to help them familiarize themselves with the school environment, school rules and regulations. The Big Sister Scheme, Life Planning programmes and Faith Garden activities are introduced to students in S1 to help them realize their character strengths; to enable them to design their own learning strategies, and to adapt to secondary school life. A summer bridging programme is held to strengthen students' academic foundation. The Orientation Day in late August highlights the school profile, introduces guidance service and arranges form teachers to meet S.1 parents and students. All students take part in ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens & My Smart Goal’ scheme, helping students to set clear goals. A booklet was given to each student at the beginning of this school year. With the guidance from class teachers, students review the progress of the various aspects of their school life and share their gains and outcomes at the end of the school year. Through their participation in positive education programmes, students are able to boost their confidence, to build their resilience, to promote their psychological health, to relieve their pressure and to promote team building.

School Facilities (for Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs)

There are 29 classrooms and 18 special rooms in our campus, including four science laboratories, two computer rooms, the Multiple Media Learning Centre, Information Technology Learning Centre and General Purpose Room. A Student Activity cum STEM Room is built to provide a better learning environment for STEM education in school. Internet connectivity is accessible in every corner of the campus via Wi-Fi. All classrooms and school hall are equipped with Apple TVs. Virtual reality (VR) equipment is available for students' perusal. Digital tablets are provided and whiteboards are installed to facilitate the interaction between students and teachers and thereby enhances the teaching quality.

School Green Policy:
Our school is committed to environmental protection. It makes efficient use of resources, promotes green awareness within the school campus and management practices and supports community events to build a green living environment. In the past few years, we carried out different environmental protection projects, such as installation of the Energy Monitoring System and Flow Controller. Besides, students also took part in the electricity generation activities on bicycles and living plants. Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
1. English Language – Our school aims to create an English-rich environment and maximize students’ use and exposure to English. We are committed to cultivating students’ interest and enthusiasm in learning English, and broadening students’ understanding of English culture. The theme of the English Panel this year is Positive Education. Thereby, we are committed to promoting the joy of learning English in a friendly and harmonious atmosphere. A Language Room is set up, garnished with advanced multimedia and e-Learning equipment. These state-of-the-art facilities would help boost students’ confidence and motivation and consolidate their digital competence and information literacy. English enhancement and remedial classes are tailor-made for students with different learning needs. English oral practices are arranged periodically throughout the school term. Students take turns to lead prayers in English during morning assemblies. Display boards and circulars posted around the school are in English. There is also a vast array of English full-filled activities like Public Speaking Competitions, English Week, English Drama, Reading Schemes, Movie Appreciation and Book Fairs.
2. Chinese Language – Our school promotes learning to learn and developing students’ potential. We aim to fulfill students’ life goals and cultivate their Chinese Language learning. Teachers guide students to experience the beauty of language and characters through studying classic literary works and establishing a good sense of morality in daily lessons. In addition, teachers actively promote Chinese culture by holding various activities, such as "Tea Art Workshop", "Cantonese Opera Workshop" and "Traditional Chinese Banner Flag Workshop". Through these activities, students can have a deep understanding of the outstanding aspects of Chinese culture and civilization, henceforth, enhancing their understanding of their country and their national identity.
3. Putonghua – Students are encouraged to speak in Putonghua to their subject teachers after class and participate in speech competitions.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
Our school is dedicated to promote reading across curriculum, widening their horizons, increasing their sensitivity and consolidating their good foundation to equip them with hands-on skills to adapt to an ever changing world. A reflective learning mode is adopted in different learning activities to guide students to be observant and reflective, to learn from their past experience, to seek the truth, and to construct new knowledge through deep learning and analysis. We also coordinate with different panels to launch cross disciplinary learning activities to develop their related English language skills. To promote the use of IT in learning and teaching, panels use a variety of software and tools to assist in classroom teaching and extra-curricular activities. At times, these e-resources and self-directed learning platforms enable students to share learning materials and enhance their teaching and learning efficacy.

1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students are given the chance to make informed decision in the choice of their elective subjects under teachers' guidance and a careful consideration of their interest and competence.
2. Curriculum highlights: School-based curriculum is in place and adopted in our junior form subjects to cater for learner diversity.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
The school strives to promote e-reading and arrange reading across curriculum (RAC) lesson. Different panels are geared to foster a reading culture at school. With regards to the development of students' Information Technology, the school provides sufficient hardware and software to assist in e-teaching and e-learning. STEM room is set up to provide students with platform, opportunities, and knowledge to explore technology and unleash their creativity. An inter-disciplinary approach in project learning is also adopted to hone students' generic skills and high order thinking skills. Lessons on Values Education and activities on Values Formation are held to foster students' caring and helpful attitude toward their peers, families, the school and the community.

Life Planning Education:
With the concerted efforts of the Careers and Life Planning Committee, students are equipped with the essential skills and intellectual abilities for further studies and work. Talks and workshops are held to instill into students the importance of life planning and multiple pathways. Students will set clear goals, discover their interests in different jobs and know about elements required in workplaces through various activities. It is also the mission of the Committee to develop students' proper social manners and etiquette, attitude and inter-personal skills for the workplace. Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
We pay close attention to different educational needs of students and adopt a whole-school approach to deploy resources to cater for learner diversity. Split-class teaching, remedial and elite classes are provided in tandem with graded materials and after-school learning activities to enhance students' competence. Students are encouraged to strive for academic excellence and high achievers are selected to participate in activities including competitions outside school, inter-school activities, exchange programmes and university courses to further develop their abilities. We are also committed to implementing STEM education, further strengthening students’ ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills through STEM activities or projects. The Guidance Team also embarks on "Rainbow Scheme", an after-school learning support programme for students with learning difficulties.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
We adopt a whole-school approach to integrated education. The Principal, Vice Principals, Social Workers, members of the Guidance Committee in collaboration with the Educational Psychologist and Speech Therapist implement appropriate support measures to cater for our SEN students. Speech therapy, guidance service, training sessions on reading and writing skills and social skills are provided for SEN students. To cultivate an inclusive and caring school culture, a wide range of activities, such as Inclusive Learning Workshop and Luck Teen Angel are organized to enhance students’ awareness and respect for individual differences. We work closely with the Educational Psychologist and other specialists through regular meetings and assessments and liaise regularly with parents of students with SEN to inform them of the progress of the students so as to support their learning and growth. Teachers are encouraged to attend the courses offered by the EDB to enhance their professional capacity in assisting our SEN students.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) was established in 1993, acting as a bridge between parents and the school and promoting the home-school cooperation. Such a collaboration facilitates good bonding among the school, parents and students and helps our girls grow healthily under love and care. The PTA hosts the annual general meeting and organises various activities every year including workshops, various outdoor activities, and visits, and issues PTA newsletters. Scholarships and special grants are generously offered by our parents to students with outstanding academic performance, services inside and outside school, and financial needs.

School Ethos:
In line with the spirit of Jesus’ love and the Catholic core values, our school is dedicated to providing holistic education to help students develop as all-rounded woman leaders. Teacher Professional Training and Development:
Starting from the academic year 2020-2021, in response to the Education Bureau's new requirements on teacher’s training for new graduate teachers, in-service teachers and promoted teachers, more systematic, theme-based and core vocational professional development programmes or resources are organised and made available for the above mentioned teachers. To implement the professional ladder for teachers and enhance their growth, the school organised talks and workshops on Catholic Education Core Values, National Security Law, e-Learning, STEM teaching strategies, self-learning, positive education and mental health. The Staff Capacity Enhancement Team specifically established an internal award scheme to motivate and encourage teachers’ active participation in courses, talks, seminars and workshops organised by the Education Bureau, Diocese of Hong Kong, tertiary education institutions and other professional organizations.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
Life-wide Learning experiences (including Five Essential Learning Experiences) have been permeated in the Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. For students’ holistic development, the school's ECA are divided into five categories, namely Sport, Art, Music, Service and Exposure. To fit students’ interests, new clubs like Pop Dance, Board Games, and Ceramic Making are formed this year. Our school also puts an emphasis on developing students’ soft and generic skills and enriching their life experiences. Out of border study tours in mainland China, South Korea, Japan and in English-speaking countries such as Canada and Australia have been organised

To unleash students' potentials, the school establishes scholarships to acknowledge students' excellent performance in different domains, namely good conduct, academic merit, remarkable improvement and self-improving in adversity. The school also recommend scholarships offered by other external institutions to eligible students. These include the Concord Fortune Ming Tak Scholarship, Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prizes, NTF Charitable Foundation, Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship, Future Stars Scholarship, and the Kwun Tong Outstanding Students Election. In recent years, graduates with excellent academic performance and those who have dedicated themselves to charitable service have been awarded the Concord Fortune Ming Tak Scholarship and the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship for non-academic excellence.
