Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
To improve students’ academic results and their abilities, we set up, according to students’ interests and abilities, Junior Secondary English Class (with English as the medium of instruction) and Junior Secondary Bi-Lingual Class (With students’ mother tongue as the medium of instruction and complemented by English vocabulary and English extended activities). We have also recruited a group of professional native-speaking English teachers who teach English through activities.
Learning and Teaching Strategies:
We carry out Small Class Teaching in each junior secondary class consisting of about 30 students. We promote the innovative “Active Education” in our teaching that advocates integration, self-determination, authentic learning experiences, adaptation and global learning. We hold a whole school Authentic Learning Day and Inter-disciplinary Project Learning. In language teaching, we introduce debate skills training, cultural festival, arts and talent show, intern scheme, social service and study tour. Every morning we have “reading lesson” through which our students could acquire the habit of reading. Moreover, equipped with iPad together with digital-interactive notes and e-books, we carry out “e-Learning” in S.1-S.6 that let students pursue interactive learning through electronic equipment and hence raise their learning effectiveness. The coverage of optical fibers and Wi-Fi extend to the whole campus. All classrooms are equipped with Apple TV and IT teaching facilities for raising students’ interest in learning. Students’ ability in writing programs are strengthened through programming languages learning such as Micro:Bit, Arduino, Drone Programming and VR/AR/AI. We also have facilities like Campus Radio, Campus TV, Films and TV Video Studio. We carry out e-library online Chinese and English reading scheme. We’ve also set up a new “Dream Laboratory” through which our teachers carry out the STEM scheme and help making students’ dreams come true, turning impossibility into possibility and creativity into reality. Joint school education network that provides an online self-studying platform and materials has also been setup.

1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Tourism and Hospitality, Visual Arts, History, Chinese History, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economy, Geography, Information and Communication Technology and Business, Accounting and Financial Studies (Accounting module and business management module).
2. Curriculum highlights: Junior and senior secondary arts and talent courses (Drama, Music, Skills for Start-up), Foreign Languages (Spanish, French and Korean, etc.) and Self-strengthening Holistic Growth, etc.
Development of the Four Key Tasks:
We carry out “e-Learning” in all forms that strengthens students’ learning effectiveness. We also set up a Dream Laboratory and promote creative and technological development "STEM". Moreover, we carry out inter-disciplinary collaboration, central homework tutorial scheme, holistic education lesson and whole school voluntary services scheme that helps students to have holistic development.
Life Planning Education:
We care about life planning of all students. Besides the recent set up of the Life and Career Planning Counseling Room, a thorough Life Planning Curriculum for each form is conducted in Holistic Education Periods to prepare students for future planning. Besides, the “Career Guidance Teachers” Scheme assigns each S.6 student with a guidance teacher for providing life planning guidance and support. Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
1. Students are to be allocated to different classes and taught according to their learning abilities.
2. The main subjects at all levels are taught in groups according to the volume or learning ability.
3. “Intensive and Remedial Scheme” are to be carried out in all forms. “Top Student Scheme” and After-school Extended Learning are also set up for raising learning effectiveness.
4. Counseling teachers of further studies and career planning help students to solve problems encountered in learning and life.
5. Two Guidance Counsellors, Social Worker and one Social Services Coordinator in school to support students’ development.
6. Implementation of Gifted Education to identify and develop students’ gifts and talents, helping them realize and nurture their own potential.
Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Students in need are jointly supported by an Integrated Education Coordinator, all teachers, Social Worker and counsellors. The 3-Tier Support Model is adopted including ‘quality teaching in regular classroom’, ‘intensive individualized support’ and ‘add-on intervention’ to cater for students’ needs and learning pace. Specific measures include regular meetings for individual case, adapting curriculum content and using diversified teaching strategies and organizing counselling groups and seminars for parents. Students in need with relevant assessment reports can apply for special examination arrangements for internal exams and HKDSE.

Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment:
Each year we have continuous assessments and two examinations (January and June). Most subjects have school-based assessment elements matching the new academic system. Junior secondary students of Computing Studies are also required to do project learning for evaluating their learning abilities. Examinations are to be adjusted according to learning difficulties encountered by students. Students are allowed to reattempt major subjects in each examination in order to consolidate their academic foundation.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos
Home-School Co-operation:
Since its foundation, our Parent-Teacher Association has been proactive in our school life. The association set up a “Parents Resources Centre”, regularly holds parenting picnic, gatherings and parenting talks. A volunteer team consisting of parents is set up for assisting our school in various large-scale activities.
School Ethos:
We care about creating a milieu of love and caringness, fostering good relationship between students and teachers and providing students with various counseling and supportive scheme like “Star-Picking Scheme”, “Small Tutors Scheme”, etc. We have compulsory courses like Chinese Culture Aesthetic and Arts through which students could learn Tea Arts and have their characteristic cultivated. Our social service department carries out the whole school volunteer scheme that trains students to serve the community and develop their leadership. Each student is required within an academic year to have at least 10 hours of social services outside our school in order to build up their self-confidence.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
100% of our English Language and Putonghua teachers are up to the standard of benchmarks tests. All teachers, in each academic year, are required to attend professional training talks or workshops held outside our school. At least three professional training activities for teachers are to be held annually. “Quality Lesson Observation” and “Peers Lesson Observation” are also carried out to promote teachers’ standard of teaching.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):

Students won the First Prize and the Visitors’ Favourite Award in the Design Proposal (Biology & Chemistry) category in Senior division with the project “Turning bone into plastic”.
