NLSI Lui Kwok Pat Fong College is a Aided Co-ed secondary school located in Hong KongThe school was founded in 1969. The sponsoring body of NLSI Lui Kwok Pat Fong College is New Life Schools Incorporation Ltd. and is a Protestantism / Christianity school. The mission of the school: "Based on the principles of the Bible, we impart subject knowledge to students and cultivate good behaviour. We aspire to make students understand the truth and the principles stated in the Bible, and establish the proper values in life by helping them to accept Jesus Christ as their behaviour. Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

S.1 Bridging Programmes and S.1 Orientation Day are conducted in Summer to help S.1 freshmen acclimate to their new school life. School Facilities (for Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs)

All classrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi infrastructure, computers and projectors. Computer Laboratory is equipped with iMac desktop computers. All classrooms, special rooms, the school hall and the covered-playground are equipped with air-conditioners. Apart from the special rooms, there are also have Multi-media Learning Centre, Multi-media Self-learning Centre, Student Activities Centres, Aesthetic Activities Room, Media Production Laboratory, English Learning Centre and conference rooms. School Management

School's Major Concerns:
1. To develop students' skills for lifelong and self-directed learning, as well as foster their whole-person development.
2. To foster Christian belief and growth mindset in students; to broaden their horizons in life-planning, leadership and global view; and to strengthen their capability in connecting with oneself, others and the society.

School Management Organisation:
School-based management is implemented. The Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) was established in 2008-09. There are many functional committees through which teachers can participate in school management. We invite and encourage teachers to participate in school development initiatives and we highly respect their opinions.

School Green Policy:
Two sets of solar energy generation system have been installed by 'the Green School 2.0–Solar Harvest' of EMSD and by donation of our alumni. The estimated green electricity generation is 24000 kWh/yr. The 'Jockey Club BEAM Plus in Schools Project' subsidised the replacement of old air-conditioners by energy-efficient ones. To reduce energy consumption, there is a widespread use of power-saving lighting. All electrical appliances in classrooms must be switched off when not in use. To avoid wasting paper, all parent notices are issued online and double-sided photocopying policy is carried out. Recycle bins for students are utilized. 'Nature Buddy', an extra-curricular activity, is organised to promote sustainability in school.

Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
In the majority of classes, English is the medium of instruction for most of the subjects. To facilitate the learning of content subjects in English and to raise students' English performance, measures including, conducting assemblies using English, holding various extra-curricular activities, making English announcements, posting school signage, procuring external resources and employing a native English teacher, are adopted. Our school collaborates with the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Education Bureau in enhancing the assessment literacy of English teachers, facilitating the learners’ positive emotions in learning English and providing gifted education in English learning respectively. It is our firm conviction to enhance our students' English proficiency and to improve their learning effectiveness in using English.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
We put emphasis on the Learning and Teaching effectiveness. We are devoted to providing a positive learning environment that enables students to master good learning habits, values and attitudes. Teachers design effective lessons with components of self-directed learning, building on students' prior knowledge and language competency. Moreover, we aim at broadening students' horizons with different learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom, including life-wide learning activities, reading across the curriculum, STEM learning experiences and project learning through the collaboration of subjects. By devising appropriate strategies, students' ability to learn independently and cooperate within a group will be enhanced.

School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Our school offers 14 electives in senior forms. Please refer to our school website for electives and subject arrangements.
2. Curriculum highlights: (a) Our school offers a comprehensive senior secondary curriculum to cater for the learning diversity of our students and foster their talent. (b) Our school aims to develop students' aspirations and to strengthen their grit and perseverance based on Christian belief as well as growth mindset. Religious Education (Christianity) are taught in S.1-S.6 and Life Education in S.1-S.5. (c) In order to sustain the students' learning effectiveness anywhere and anytime, an e-resource platform is developed to support students' self-directed learning. (d) STEM learning elements are integrated into the junior form Science curriculum to foster students’ interest. By integrating the knowledge learnt from different subjects, students are equipped to design experiments, carry out research and showcase their talents in the STEM Fair. (e) To strengthen cross-curricular learning and enhance students’ competence in English learning, curriculum mapping and thematic cross-curricular learning programmes are implemented. They allow students to both reinforce their content knowledge learning and foster the use of content obligatory language and vocabulary. A variety of English learning activities are organized to provide students with more opportunities to apply what they have learnt outside classroom, cultivating an English-rich learning environment.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
1. Moral, Civic and National Education: Whole-person development is a major concern in our school. We aim at fostering students' positive values and attitudes through the learning and teaching of various subjects, assemblies, roll calls, extra-curricular activities, etc. Flag raising ceremonies, exhibitions and activities are held to enhance the affection to the nation. 2. Reading to Learn: There is a 20-minute morning reading time twice a cycle. Students share their reading experience and recommend good books in assemblies and reading time. Provision of reading across the curriculum (RaC) is our target in learning and teaching. 3. Project Learning: STEM learning experiences and project learning - through the collaboration of subjects enhance students' learning to learn competence and self-efficacy in learning. 4. Information Technology for Interactive Learning: Computer Literacy is compulsory in S.1-S.3 while Information and Communication Technology is one of the electives in S.4-S.6. Regarding the learning and teaching policy of the whole school, we aim at strengthening the use of e-learning in all forms to facilitate learning beyond the classroom, to cater for learner diversity, and to enrich their learning experiences.

Life Planning Education:
The school arranges a variety of talks, workshops and visits to allow students to have better self-understanding and set personal goals. Students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitude to make wise choices in further education and future career in accordance with their interests and abilities. Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
Learning support grant is provided by the EDB to help students with special educational needs. Student support team has been established. Professional such as social worker, educational psychologist and speech therapist provide services to students in need. SEN coordinator and SEN support teachers are implemented and a SEN assistant is hired to provide support to the related students and administrative support to the teachers.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Student support team is led by the SEN coordinator. Members include the Principal, Vice-Principals, chairpersons of guidance, discipline and academic committees, SENST's, school social workers and school educational psychologist. Appropriate support is provided in school level, group level and individual level as well as parent level. Learning support grant is provided by the EDB to help the school after teaching adaption and assessment accommodation. Various types of training groups, inclusive education talks and class periods are held in order to enhance the learning ability, interpersonal relationship skills, emotional control ability and adaptability of the students. In order to provide appropriate support services for students with mental health needs, the school participates in the "Student Mental Health Support Scheme". The school emphasizes on the parent-teacher cooperation. Teachers keep on contact with parents and discuss on students’ progress. For the students of greater needs, individual educational plans and case conferences are carried out.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
Highly concerned of adolescents' growth and their learning progress, members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) frequently make recommendations to the school management. They are enthusiastic about planning services for the school, and actively participate in different activities. Every year, the PTA organizes talks, positive parenting workshop, tea gathering with the Principal, picnics and interest classes for parents and students, all of which have received positive responses from participants.

As a Christian school, discipline and virtues are of utmost importance. We emphasize conduct, purity and integrity, aiming to nurture students to be self-disciplined and law-abiding global citizens. Teacher Professional Training and Development:
Staff Development Committee organizes seminars, talks and workshops regularly in order to enhance our teachers' professional development and broaden their horizons sharing sessions are held so that teachers can learn from each other to cultivate a vibrant learning community. In addition, an annual retreat with other Christian schools was held to foster the spiritual growth and secure mutual support from each other. Resources are provided to encourage and support teachers in professional development.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
The school offers over forty clubs which fall into six categories: Christian fellowship, school and community services, academics, aesthetics, sports and interests. Through multiple learning experiences, students can develop different interests, promote a positive lifestyle, develop their potentials, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the school.
The school sports and aesthetic teams have performed well in different inter-school competitions. Students can develop interpersonal and leadership skills in organizing activities and serving others.
In addition, through cross-KLA collaboration, students can integrate the content learnt from different subjects. With life-wide learning activities and overseas tours, students can broaden their horizons.
Two Activity Days and post-exam activities are held in each school year, providing students of all levels with a variety of experiences, which is beneficial to the learning in various key learning areas. Large-scale activities are held in different forms, including S.1 mountaineering course, S.2 Growth Day Camp, S.3 Life Planning Day Camp and S.4-6 relaxation activities. In the scopes of Intellectual Development and Physical and Aesthetic Development, after school training courses are held to develop students' potential. In the scopes of Moral and Civic Education and Career-related Experiences, various types of activities are held to develop students' leadership, grit and perseverance.
