Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
English is used as the medium of instruction in most of the subjects. Through taking part in a wide range of fun English activities, students' English standard is much enhanced. For Chinese, their standard is raised through the Extensive Reading Scheme, Chinese week and the speech and public speaking contests. On top of the above, Putonghua is added to the F.1-F.3 curriculum. All these are in line with the government policy of grooming biliterate and trilingual individuals.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
Being student-centred, we provide opportunities to students to broaden their experience and outlook. We help them develop skills and desire for autonomous learning and cultivate in them the love for reading and a positive attitude towards life.

School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 3X and 4X. Students may choose to take 3 or 4 electives according to their abilities.
2. Curriculum highlights: Teachers will design suitable curriculum for students with different abilities.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
Reading habits are cultivated through various Chinese and English Reading Schemes. Students’ interest in reading is aroused through various activities like Morning Reading Session, promotion of new books, Morning Book Sharing Sessions, lunchtime Reading Circles and World Book Day (Reading week). A sophisticated cross-curricular project has long been arranged in junior forms to enable students to learn the required skills as early as possible.
In order to foster a healthy and all rounded personal growth of students, the Guidance Committee organizes various activities like form teacher periods, 'Positive Dynamics' scheme, ‘I can do it’ award scheme, ‘Heart to heart’ award scheme, National Week, mentorship scheme and adventure based programme (UAP). A whole school approach is adopted for the annual school-wide mass programme. Collaborations with subjects and with the Activities Committee are made to benefit students. Various themes of different foci such as 'Our School', 'Life planning' and ‘Mutual Respect’ were adopted.
The use of IT has been fast growing in the campus. As one of the first batch of schools joining EDB's Wifi 900 project, enhancement works for our school Wifi infrastructure have been completed by fall 2015. Network equipment has been updated regularly and smart TVs have been installed in some classrooms, which in turn provides stronger support for e-learning. All subjects are actively developing net-teaching which supports the dissemination of teaching materials, teaching activities, exercises and tests. These successfully raise students' self study skills for life-long learning and nurture in them a positive attitude towards learning.

Life Planning Education:
Through different types of programmes about careers and life planning education, like self-understanding and goal-setting for junior forms, F.3 Information Day on Subject Streaming, careers talks, Careers Exploration Day and Mock Interview Workshops, students can acquire a reasoned and realistic approach to their careers planning and strengthen their self-understanding. Thus they are better equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitude to make wise choices.
