‘New Secondary One Student and Parent Orientation Day' is arranged to foster parents' and students' understanding of the school. ‘Promotion to Secondary One Oriented Curriculum’ comprises a diversified learning bridging programme for new Secondary One students. Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
The School primarily adopts mother-tongue teaching and focuses on enhancing our students' English. The English department strives to promote an English learning environment, such as organizing English Immersion Programmes in Vancouver and UK, English Summer Camps to provide more opportunities for students to be exposed to English. Putonghua lessons are offered in junior forms to nurture students’ Putonghua fluency and raise their confidence in communicating with others.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
A Student-centred approach is adapted according to students' abilities and interests with the aim of raising their academic standards. S1-S3 curriculum caters for learners' differences and explores their potential. Different kinds of subjects such as Applied Learning are provided in senior forms to meet students' needs. To encourage students' learning through reading, the school implements Extensive Reading schemes and Afternoon Reading programmes to raise students' language abilities, acquire different kinds of knowledge, broaden their horizons and let them enjoy the pleasure of reading. Besides, students can use the reading reward coupons in school book fairs so that they can collect the books they love. Chinese, English and Mathematics offers small group teaching to foster students' learning. Maker Education is implemented to nurture students' innovative spirit, improve their generic skills and learners' confidence through experiential learning, STEM application and product presentation.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
Support for S1-S3 students: Consolidate the foundation of language and mathematics (English and Maths group tutoring and after-school support programs) to help students who need more polish to improve. Also, our school provides iPads to students for e-learning.
Support for S4-S6 students: Various scholarships and grants are provided. Students are subsidized to participate in academic exchange tours; Enhancement courses are set up after school and on weekends for students to strive for academic excellence and further studies.
Medium-class and Small-class teaching have been adopted in senior forms to cater for learner diversity. Taking into account students' learning differences, students choose senior secondary subjects according to their interests and abilities to achieve the best learning effectiveness. A Speech Therapy Team has been set up to care for students with language difficulties. Also, a Social Skills Group to strengthen students' ability to get along with others; many school-based social workers guide students and, implement counselling activities; facilitate induction programs and English courses for newly-arrived students.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
A wide range of support and services are provided to facilitate an inclusive school culture and create a harmonious campus. External services such as speech therapy and social training groups are deployed to meet various student needs. Ample support is given to foster healthy growth for tier two students. Our Student Support Team contains a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), a counselling supervisor, teachers with SEN training, an educational psychologist, social workers and teaching assistants. With their expertise in different sectors, they coordinate with front-line teachers to exchange professional advice for improving teaching standards. With flexible resource allocations, we adopt a school-based approach to support students with special educational needs. Core subject teachers improvise curriculum from junior form, select main teaching points and make flexible use of teaching strategies to support tier one students and consolidate their foundations. Our school places utmost importance on Home-School Co-operation. Counselling teachers maintain close communication with parents to understand students' special educational needs. We run a two-week adaptation course for new students to adapt to their campus lives. Parent workshops are held to exchange educational ideas and listen to parents' opinions. Parents are invited to attend meetings to formulate individual study plans and evaluate the effectiveness. This enables both parents and school share the same vision and use the same methods to cultivate our students' learning habits and life routines more effectively.

Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment:
Various types of assessments are implemented. Other than regular tests, assignments, oral reports, experiment activities and project learning are for teachers to assess students’ academic performances and let students track their progress clearly. To consolidate students’ knowledge, there are 2 uniform tests and 2 examinations per year. Post examination evaluation days are arranged to provide feedback for students, review learning and teaching effectiveness and adjust teaching strategies. Our school adopts competence-based class grouping policy to reduce learner diversity within classes. This policy is also an effective way for teachers to execute the adapted curriculum, design appropriate assignments and consolidate students’ learning and teaching effectiveness.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
The school has developed a partnership of trust and openness with parents. In order to let parents understand more about the learning situations of children, they are encouraged to participate in the School's administration. The Association organizes various kinds of forums, including S.1 new students and parents' orientation day, PTA Annual General Meeting, regular form parents' meetings, and breakfast meetings with the principal. To coordinate with the development of Other Learning Experiences (OLE), a number of diversified activities are organized for parents and students. For example, family day trips, Christmas gathering, educational talks, and different types of interest courses and workshops. Apart from giving out scholarships and financing students' extra-curricular activities, the PTA also prepares cards and gifts for teachers during Teachers' Week. Furthermore, a volunteer team is set up by the PTA to organize charity events and assist other school functions.

School Ethos:
The school fully implements a disciplined, yet caring school campus culture with a harmonious relationship between teachers and students. School Development Plan:
1. Promote academic and Diversity Learning Development (such as aviation and drone technology education, Metaverse education, entrepreneurship education, Chinese medicine garden) to create successful experiences.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
The teacher professional development committee aims to enhance teachers' continuing professional development. To fit in with the curriculum reform, all teachers actively participate in seminars and workshops held by EDB, Sponsoring Body and other education organizations. In addition, each year the school has a number of professional development days for various training activities, and invites education experts and EDB staff to give talks and workshops to enhance teachers' professional knowledge and skills. The school also emphasizes collaborative teaching. The subject panel heads will hold meetings to co-design lesson plans and share teaching materials. The Teachers' Professional Development committee encourages intra-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary peer lesson observation, and to facilitate teachers' exchange of experiences in teaching, so as to increase teaching effectiveness.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
The School is committed to promoting different activities to cater to students with learning diversity. We hope to broaden students' horizons and inspire potential. Yet, let students try more to build self-confidence and hope for success. Activities are divided into religious, academic, service, sports, art, fun, and growth, such as Metaverse Media Creation, Golf, Commercial Photography, Joint Interact Council.
The School has included there diversity learning activities in the regular timetable, and students need to participate in at least one activity in the diversity learning period. In addition, we actively promote life-wide learning days, with different themes at different levels, involving Chinese, Mathematics, humanities, life planning and volunteer services. Others

The Chinese Percussion Team, which belongs to Pui Ying Chinese Music Orchestra, won the gold award of The Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows with its “Light of Pui Ying” song. The Symphonic Band, which was established in the 1950s, was a Silver Band before. The Band won the champion award of The Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows Symphonic Band organized by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for three consecutive years.
The harmonica team won numerous awards in different inter-school music competitions. Our alumnus Gordon Lee Chun Lok won the championship of chromatic harmonica solo at the 8th World Harmonica Festival among 65 contestants in the world and bought honour to Hong Kong. Our volleyball team is honourably named 'Volleyball Shaolin' in Hong Kong. The Volleyball team has won many volleyball group championships. Our alumnus Sau Mei Yeung even created history in Hong Kong Volleyball Games. She joined the Rangsit University Volleyball Club in Thailand and became the first professional woman's player in Hong Kong. The Photography Club won numerous awards. It held photography exhibitions, Southern District Cultural visit and Compassion Photography competition. The club also sponsors students to publish individual photograph books. Our Track and Field Team, Swimming Team, Rope Skipping Team, Frisbee Team, Drama Team have been awarded for their efforts and won numerous prizes in school sports competitions.
