Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).Admission for Discretionary Places is based on: Interview performance (40%), EDB rank order and academic performance (40%), extra-curricular activities, services and awards (10%), affiliation with the school (10%). All applicants should obtain grade B or above in conduct assessments in P.5 and the first term of P.6.

Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

A comprehensive S.1 Adaptation Programme is organised, with activities including Orientation Days for both new students and parents, Parents' Talk, Summer Bridging Courses (Language Across the Curriculum and English Language). In September, parents are invited to meet the form teachers. Our Guidance Section conducts Big Brothers and Big Sisters Scheme. S.1 students are arranged to have lunch in the classrooms at the beginning of the school year so that they can adapt to the new life in secondary school. Student Health Promotion Committee has offered a variety of health services and activities to our students. Its aim is to foster a healthy and active lifestyle, and spread the messages of being healthy around the school. School Management Organisation:
There are three divisions (Management and Organisation, Learning and Teaching, Student Support and School Ethos) which oversee the work of eight sections, including Administrative, Careers, Discipline, Extra-curricular Activities, General Affairs, Guidance, Learning and Teaching, and Moral and Civic Education Sections in the school. Teachers are consulted when major decisions are made. Consultative Committee is formed to enhance communication and mutual understanding between members of the Incorporated Management Committee and teachers.

Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
English is the main Medium of Instruction. Two native English teachers help students develop English communication skills. The school's language policy aims at increasing students' exposure to English through English Award Scheme and regular English Speaking Days. School public announcements are made in English and Putonghua. There are Chinese and English Debate Teams, both of which have successfully won awards in various inter-school debating contests. The Lam Woo Foundation has contributed language scholarships to award students with excellent performance in Chinese, English and Putonghua respectively.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
We place strong emphasis on training our students to be biliterate and trilingual. In junior forms, students are streamed by their abilities in English and Mathematics; in senior forms, students are streamed by their abilities in Chinese and English, so as to better cater for their individual needs. Students also learn the nine generic skills and high order thinking skills through various academic subjects. Design and Technology, and Home Economics are offered to both boys and girls in junior forms so as to develop their life skills. In senior forms, students are given a wide range of choices of subjects in arts, science and commerce. The school-based subject, Language Across the Curriculum, was designed for S.1 students to facilitate their adaptation to the new English-learning environment. The school library provides sufficient space and chances for arranging book exhibitions and talks on good books. Information is updated on the school website regularly as well.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
Reading Promotion Committee is established. Regular book sharing sessions are hosted by teachers and students to widen their horizons. Every year, Old Book Sale and Book Fair are conducted. Furthermore, to promote reading, regular book exhibitions and talks by famous authors are arranged. Regarding Information Technology (IT) in Learning, our teachers have attained Basic to Advanced Level in IT training. We have intranet and eClass integrated platform to facilitate sharing and circulation of information. Computers and projectors are installed in all classrooms and special rooms. Moreover, mobile learning is implemented in classrooms so as to foster students' self-directed learning. WiFi network is set up on the school campus to promote IT in learning. Moral and Civic Education: We designate a number of values, qualities and attitudes to be our focus for each year. These values and attitudes align with the qualities of a LAMWOOER. Moral education is done with the joint efforts of various related units and through form teacher periods, form assemblies and school assemblies. Moral and Civic Education Section promotes politeness, classroom cleanliness, civic-mindedness and self-management skills. In terms of national and civic education, a number of activities are held, like Flag Hoisting Ceremony on National Day, exhibitions, talks, forums, inter-class and joint-school quizzes.

Life Planning Education:
1. To nurture students with a positive psychological state which facilitates them to acquire a flourishing life: In junior forms, we help students explore their interest, abilities as well as understand the relationship between their personality and occupations. Hence, students can make proper decision on senior form subject election according to objective references and have a preliminary concept of career planning and management. In senior forms, we aim to enrich students’ learning experience on career planning through different kinds of activities, such as talks, workshops, visits and work experience programmes so as to help students understand the importance of career planning and set up appropriate learning and career targets.
2. To make continuous improvement in our career education by adopting the whole school participation approach: We implement career planning and life skills education curriculum by introducing collaborative partners and stakeholders. We make use of the government subsidy to hire additional teacher to reduce the workload of career teachers and senior form Form Teachers, so that they can spare time for in-depth career counseling and further improve the career education curriculum.
3. To enable students to obtain work-related experience: Through different learning modes, we help students at all levels enhance their understanding of the world of work and employability. We encourage students to take the initiative for personal planning and think about their future direction of career development.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
From the academic aspect, apart from the grouping arrangements in Chinese, English and Mathematics, teachers of all subjects will explore various teaching strategies to cater for learner diversity. Special Education Needs Committee was set up to cater for students with special educational needs. In order to cater for learner diversity, four classes are split into five in senior forms to give students more individual attention and support, and to provide more opportunities for student interaction. From the non-academic aspect, Healthy School Committee was set up to help students reach a state of physical, mental and social well-being with a focus on developing students' healthy lifestyles, positive attitudes and values, practical life skills and refusal skills to resist temptation.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Our school adopts Whole School Approach when it comes to implementing Integrated Education. We have set up Student Support Team, with Vice-principals, teacher coordinators, and Chinese, English and Mathematics teachers being the team members to cater for the needs of students with special educational needs. We also allow and arrange teachers to attend courses related to Integrated Education in order to enhance teacher professional development. To strengthen the support for comprehensively catering for students with special educational needs, our school makes good use of Learning Support Grant and other internal resources to, for instance, employ Integrated Education coaches and teaching assistants and subscribe to speech and occupational therapy service to help students with speech and hearing needs. Other measures including curriculum design, diversified teaching and individualized learning strategies and adjustments in homework and assessments are introduced to cater for diversified learning of students. Last but not least, we cooperate with Education Bureau, educational psychologists and other professionals to schedule regular and individual meetings. Parents are also invited to the meetings and workshops.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
Close liaison with our parents means a lot to us. Apart from the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the school organises various functions like Parents' Nights and Parents' Days. PTA organises educational talks, workshops, interest groups, fellowship and picnics for parents. Parents also serve as volunteers to help conduct school activities. We also issue regular newsletters to update parents on the latest news.

School Ethos:
School Ethos is established according to the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. Our students are modest, self-disciplined and keen to learn. Teachers and students have built a warm and caring relationship. Our two school social workers from Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association, an educational psychologist from Sheng Kung Hui and our experienced teachers offer guidance service to students. In S.1, two form teachers are assigned to each class so as to provide better pastoral care.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
Teachers are encouraged and supported in their professional development through continuing education, portfolio building, professional exchanges and lesson studies. We aim at building the school into a learning organisation. Talks, visits and interflow programmes are organised for teachers every year.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
We provide a choice of more than 50 types of extra-curricular activities covering a wide range of interest areas: academic study, interest classes, art, music and sports training courses. Leadership training camps are organised annually for both junior and senior form students. Our students also regularly attend cultural functions, visits, exhibitions, and overseas English study tours. They are also engaged in various types of study and join exchange programmes and social service tours to both mainland China and overseas countries.

Others

The school sets up more than 80 different categories of scholarships to encourage students to make progress and foster multifaceted development. In addition to the academic scholarships and conduct scholarships, there are significant academic progress awards and religious education awards. The Incorporated Management Committee, the Lam Woo Foundation and many generous alumni establish a number of academic and non-academic scholarships to encourage students with outstanding performance in various areas. In the 40th anniversary celebration, we raised over one million Hong Kong dollars to set up the All-round Education Fund that subsidises students from low-income families to participate in extra-curricular activities, leadership training programmes and overseas study tours.
In addition, our students have repeatedly won Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Scholarship and Grantham Scholarship. Our students obtain various outstanding students awards every year. From 2015 to 2021, our students, Shirley Wong, Thomas Yau, Ivy Wong, Jack Law, Larry Fong, Sam Li, Edwin Li and William Yau successfully obtained full funding of the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme to pursue their studies in the overseas universities. In 2022, Hannah Au has been awarded Prince Philip Scholarship for her undergraduate studies in Natural Science (Biological) at University of Cambridge.
In inter-school and international competitions of various areas such as academic study, art, music and sports, our students have achieved very good results and obtained many awards. For example, our Mixed Voice Choir was awarded the Grand Championship among 238 choirs at the 13th China International Chorus Festival in 2016.
