Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

To establish a close relationship between the parents and the school, help new students understand the school and reinforce students' sense of belonging to the school whilst developing good relationships among students, our school annually holds a pre-term orientation day for both the new students and their parents, as well as carrying out Bridging Courses for the new students to get to know the school better. The school places emphasis on the all-round educational development of it's students, from their intellectual, physical and social to their spiritual, moral and aesthetic development. Student applicants are required to submit official documents such as report cards and certificates of awards for perusal by the school.
To improve students' health, the school arranges two periods of Physical Education per cycle. The school also provides school sport teams for students to join. To help students develop balanced dietary habits, S.1 students must join the Lunch at School Scheme and have lunch at school.

Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
Chinese is the medium of instruction for S.1 to S.6. To improve the students’ proficiency in English, while upholding mother-tongue teaching and enhancing proficiency in Chinese and English, our plan is to increase the total lesson time for conducting extended learning activities in English in S.1 to S.3. The non-language subjects such as Mathematics, Integrated Science, Life & Society, Geography, Technology & Living, Business Fundamentals and Music are taught mainly in the medium of Chinese, while certain topics and concept words are taught in English. Also, English is used for revision on topics previously covered in Chinese and for the teaching of Mathematics in the elite classes in S.1 to S.6. Exam and test papers will partly be set in English for assessments.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
Students are trained to enhance their analytical thinking, self-learning abilities and generic skills. All classrooms are equipped with a computer, a visualizer and a projector. Some classrooms are levelled up with interactive whiteboards. The school has two advanced Learning Centres, an English Centre and a self-learning centre. Our curriculum structure keeps pace with the students' abilities and the needs in society. For junior forms, we offer diverse academic subjects, such as Life & Society, Creativity & Media, Computer Literacy, Business Fundamentals, Technology and Living as well as an informal curriculum, such as reading programmes across curriculum, adolescent growth programmes, cultural activities and STEM activities. Chinese and English Morning Reading Sessions are held for the whole school. Student Ambassadors are appointed to promote reading. Chinese and English Reading Awards are given to outstanding readers. Opportunities are also provided for students to share their reading. Talks by writers, book exhibitions and Book Borrowing Competition are organized. Participation in reading competitions organized by outside organizations is highly encouraged.

2. Curriculum highlights: Our S.1 to S.3 English and Chinese curriculum is tailor-made to cater for the needs of our students. Diversity Learning Grant is provided by EDB to run Enhancement Programmes for elite students in senior forms outside school hours. Intensive Remedial Programmes are implemented for junior form students to cater for their learning diversity.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
Reading across the curriculum: Implementation of Chinese and English Morning Reading Program, extensive reading scheme organized by various subjects, reading passports, student ambassadors to promote reading and talks by writers.
Information technology for interactive learning and self-directed learning: Installation of computers, projectors, visualizer and Wi-Fi in all classrooms, broadband and WiFi access to the Internet. Some classrooms are equipped with high-quality and large-sized digital white boards. Tablets for learning are available when needed. The Computer Room is open to students after school. The "Bring-Your-Own-Device" Policy is implemented in Junior Form Levels.
Project learning: Project learning activities are to be conducted in all Key Learning Areas.
Moral and Civic Education: school-based moral education lessons, form time, guidance week, gospel week and student civic ambassador program.

Life Planning Education:
To help students understand themselves and set goals for further studies and career aspirations, our school implements school-based life planning education in our forms to meet the development needs of students at different stages of growth. For instance, Life and Career Planning lessons are designed to help students' positioning and set attainable life and career-related goals.
Apart from providing individual and small group counselling for students by the Career Counselling teachers and our Life and Career Counselling Officer, this year, we will continue to cooperate with other organizations to organize various school-based career planning activities such as “Life Simulation”, company visits, and mentorship programs to provide students with learning experiences outside of the classroom to broaden their horizons. We will also encourage students to follow their interests, abilities and aspirations to help set long-term goals and make decisions about further studies or careers. Also, since a career interest test is conducted for all students in the school, a personal guidance for further studies will be arranged for senior forms to let students understand themselves. They will be provided with information and can be responsible for their studies, career goals, and even other areas of life.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
Assignments and assessments are of different levels of difficulty, with review of student's academic results and learning attitude. Whenever necessary, collaborative follow-up actions would be taken. Educational Psychologist and School Social Worker would help students with special needs. Some teachers have been trained to help SEN students.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
To cater for students’ special learning needs, we have the Learning Support Grant from the Education Bureau to carry out the following projects in the school year of 2022 – 2023:
1. Apart from the school-based speech therapist, we recruit a resource teacher, supportive instructors and part-time tutors for organizing Individual Education Plan (IEP) and exam adaptation. Assessment and regular training will be provided for students with special needs.
2. We are cooperating with different organizations to carry out work groups. This will let students understand their own characters, realize and comprehend different ways of career planning and build up a preliminary idea for their future.
3. A school-based learning group called “Language World” will be set up for Form 1 and Form 2 students. This will support students’ learning needs.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
The Parent-Teacher Association and the Home School Cooperation Committee promote cooperation between parents and teachers. School newsletters are published. Activities are organized to cultivate a harmonious relationship among teachers and parents.

School Ethos:
The discipline and guidance teams work together to foster caring and good school ethos. School social workers, Education Psychologist and Speech Therapist would provide guidance. Various awards are provided to commend outstanding performances. S.1 to S.6 classes are assigned with two form teachers. Lunch-at-school is arranged for Form 1 students.

Future Development

School Development Plan:
Organize Enhanced Bridging Programme, allocate two form teachers for classes in S.1 to S.6; implement programs to foster caring and guidance to students, enhance classroom learning by improving teaching strategies and skills to cater for diverse needs; implement Morning Reading Programs and extended learning activities to further enhance language training and promote interest in reading; organize the "Mastering An Artistic Skill Program", implement the Start a new Program and recognize students' achievements outside school. For cooperation and communication with parents and also the Alumni, fraternity functions will be organised occasionally.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
Teachers attend School Professional Development Days and fulfill a designated number of training hours each year. Teachers of core curriculum co-plan their lessons, share experiences and observe classroom teaching for professional development.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
