Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

To facilitate students proceeding to S1 to accommodate the new school environment and study life, our school organises various activities or bridging programmes for these students during the summer vacation. They are Orientation Day, English Bridging Course, Self-Regulated Learning Bridging Course, Study Skills Bridging course, Development Camp, Students' Orientation Day and Parents' Orientation Day. Students understand the importance of balanced diet, physical and mental well-being through Life Education, Healthy School Programme, and cross-curricular activities, including Adventure-Ship, SportACT Award Scheme, Fruit Day. School Management Organisation:
The School Management Committee was established in 1999 with a view to achieving efficient and effective school management. The committee comprises the chairperson, a PEO from EDB and members include the Principal, teacher representatives, parent representatives, alumni representatives and independent members.

The School Management Committee is to manage, administer and operate the school. To ensure transparency and accountability, the SMC ensures that school policies are drawn up and made known to the school members; the School Development Plan, Annual School Plan and School Report are timely prepared. The SMC plays an important role in monitoring, evaluating and helping with the sustainable development of the school.

School Green Policy:
Our school has a wind - PV hybrid streetlight for energy saving and educational purposes. Policy on proper use of air-conditioning is implemented. Reducing Plastic Usage Scheme, Uniform Recycling and Project on ‘Price of Conservation’ are adopted as green policies. Through these activities, students are educated to live a green life. Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
- Language-across-the-Curriculum (LAC) Approach from S1 to S3: Math, Geography, History, Geography, Integrated Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- To adopt Chinese or English as MOI for Senior form students according to students' language proficiency.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
- The school puts emphasis in all-rounded development in five different dimensions, namely moral, intellectual, physical and social, as well as bi-literacy and tri-lingualism to foster students’ abilities in writing, reading, listening, speaking and critical thinking, etc;

3. With the implementation of the school-based careers life planning curriculum, class teachers and subject teachers shoulder their responsibility in educating students the importance of careers life planning and in making well-informed choices for future education and employment.
4. By organizing the school-based "Career Expo" and "Mentoring Programme" to increase students’ exposure to different industries and professions. With a better understanding of the world of work, students are more able to set up their goals in life and enhance their job readiness.
5. To invite NGOs and the business sector to organize talks to introduce the importance of careers life planning in whole-person development to students, teachers and parents.

Student Support

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
1. Small group teaching is implemented in English classes according to students’ learning abilities and by which to cater for learners' diversities.
2. Two class teachers in Junior form to take good care of every student.
3. Counseling Prefects Scheme aims to handle students with emotional needs.
4. Academic Prefects and English Ambassadors Scheme aim to build the learning and mentoring atmosphere among peers. Senior form students help junior form students solve difficulties in learning.
5. “STAR Programme” (S.1-S.3) aims to strengthen students' knowledge transfer on Chinese, English, Mathematics and Liberal Studies. It also cultivates habits of self-learning, lessons preparation and handing in cross-curricular homework.
6. Cross-curricular Graded e-learning lesson aims to provide students English Self-learning exercises and platform.

Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
The school communicates with parents through various channels, such as Parents’ day, the School Newsletters and PTA meetings. In addition, PTA initiated a Parent Volunteer Group which supports extra curricular activities.

School Ethos:
Under simple school ethos, a harmonious campus is created by the concerted efforts of teachers and students. The Academic Prefects, Counselling Prefects and Mentorship Scheme help to build up a caring culture in school effectively. Leadership training programme, Volunteer Scheme and a wide variety of Other Learning Experiences (OLE) classes promote the whole-person development of students.

School Development Plan:
The Areas of Concern for 2022/23 are:
1. Enhancement of students’ multiple generic skills.
To enhance students' multiple generic skills through cross-disciplinary and Cross-committee in Project-based Collaboration, Academic Festival and After School Extensive Learning Training.
2. Enhancement of students’ Self-management Capability
To enhance students’ self-management capability through goal-setting, interpersonal skills, career and life planning of students, leadership training and campus optimization campaign.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
Besides school-based Staff Development Day and joint-school Staff Development Day, teachers are encouraged to participate in training courses, workshops and seminars so as to advance the efficacy in teaching and pastoral care.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
A total of 29 clubs and interest groups allow students to achieve both physical and mental well-being in various fields like subjects, social services, sports and recreation.

Our students attained High School Category Merit Award in Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Educations "Hong Kong Biological Literacy Competition". Various composition awards have also been presented.

Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival:1 First Runner-up, 1 Second Runner-up in Solo Speaking in the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (English Speech): 1 Second Runner-up in Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (PTH Speech).

Debate Competition: The 3rd Dragon Cup Government Secondary School Multi-Angle Debating Competition 1st Runner-up: Hong Kong Secondary School Students Speech Contest "Dream Cup" Cantonese Junior Secondary School Group 3rd Runner-up.

Technology: Hong Kong RC Model Car Rising Stars Competition 2021 Champion, Hong Kong RC Model Car Rising Star Competition 2021-STEM Online Workshop Quiz Competition Champion: Academic Science and Technology Sports - Remote Control Model Car Points Competition - Comprehensive School Achievement: Champion and Champion of the Highest Participation Award: Guided Tour Robot Image Design and the Naming Contest Excellence Award.

Our students are also talented in various fields like performing arts, e.g. Dancing, Sports, Technology, etc. Many of them have won awards and certificates at district, social services, regional and international levels.
