Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

S.1 Orientation day is held in mid July. In mid August, the school organizes an English bridging course for S.1 new comers to help them adapt to the EMI environment.
Whole-person development has long been the concern of our school. Through organising different activities including implementation of "Power-up Station", Healthy School Scheme and so on, the Healthy School Committee and the Moral and Life Education Team has effectively promoted the development of body, mind and soul of students.

Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
With the exception of Chinese Language, Chinese History, Chinese Literature, Putonghua, Health Management and Social Care, Citizenship and Social Development (S.4, S.5), Liberal Studies (S.6), all subjects adopt English as the medium of instruction.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
Our teachers are well-motivated. They strive to cope with learner diversities and actively engage in continuous professional development. All the teachers acquire Basic IT competency to apply I.T. in teaching and learning. Besides academic pursuit, the school also focuses on many life-wide learning areas. In order to cultivate students' reading interest, the school encourages students to join various reading schemes. Apart from the school-based Chinese/English Extensive Reading Scheme, the school provides Reading to Learn periods every Tuesday and Thursday morning. students are encouraged to read Chinese and English reading materials and newspaper respectively on those two days. This helps students develop awareness in current affairs and enriches their knowledge in various aspects. The school also holds regular activities like sharing of good books, talks by authors, book exhibition and Reading Month to promote strong reading culture among students.

Life Planning Education:
Stressing on Life Planning Education, students are encouraged to start paving the way for further studies and career in line with their abilities and wishes from junior form. Apart from the regular Life Planning Education in different level, students can also participate in assorted activities, for example, Career Visits, Universities Information Days, Dining Etiquette, Mock HKDSE Result Release, which all allow them to broaden their horizons and equip themselves with the capabilities to deal with different situations that they may encounter in the future.

Our school endeavors to cultivate an inclusive environment for our students. We have adopted the Whole School Approach to support our students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Through resources allocation and professional intervention, students with SEN have all along been provided with timely and diversified support services to enhance their learning effectiveness and help them adapt to the school life.

Student Learning & Support Team is set up to cater for the diversified needs of students with SEN. The core members include Assistant Principal, SEN Coordinator, Guidance & Counselling Mistress, Discipline Mistress, Careers & Life Education Mistress, Prefects of Studies, Educational Psychologist, school social workers and teaching assistant of integrated education. Our school has systematically developed professional training plans for teachers on this area. Resources are deployed to provide appropriate and diversified support for students with diverse needs so as to assist them in adapting to the school life and achieving the desired learning outcomes. Students are provided with support measures like differentiated teaching, assessment accommodations and pull-out remedial lessons. We seek for professional support and offer guidance groups, reading and writing training groups, social skills and emotion management skills training groups, occupational therapy services, speech therapy services, attention training and individual education plans to students with needs. Individual counselling and assessment are also provided for students with SEN.

Our school treasures home-school cooperation by establishing regular communication channels to facilitate parents’ participation in the formulation of policy on student support.

Home-School Co-operation:
The PTA serves well as a bridge between the school and parents and is supportive of school development and student learning. PTA's scholarships will be awarded to students with good service and outstanding performance. Parents are highly visible on the campus and some undertake voluntary work for the school on the daily basis. It is also commendable that some render enthusiastic support to school activities.
