Orientation Activities and Healthy Living
Orientation Week is held during the summer holiday which aims to prepare S.1 students for their secondary school life. The School offers a variety of orientation activities for the S.1 students.S.1 Parents Day is also held to strengthen home-school communication and collaboration.
To help our students develop healthy living habits, S.1 to S.3 students are offered healthy and nutritional lunch choices. We organize various sports activities, such as regular physical education, swimming gala and sports days, etc. There is a Pastoral Care Committee in the school. Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
The School strives to create a language-rich environment to nurture students' bi-literate and tri-lingual abilities and train students to be proficient in both Chinese and English. English elements with extended English learning activities e.g. exchange programs with local and overseas international schools, Oxbridge English camps and fun language activities, etc. are incorporated in the junior form curriculum. Summer bridging courses are offered to better equip Science and Mathematics students with the abilities to switch to English as the medium of instruction in their learning. To cater for students’ various learning needs, gifted education activities and enhancement & enrichment classes are arranged.
Learning and Teaching Strategies:
We aim at cultivating students’ interests in learning and motivating them to learn actively and independently. Our students have attained satisfactory public examination results. Moreover, we offer diversified elective subjects in senior forms. We aim to cultivate and develop students’ good learning habits and self-directed learning abilities. In terms of teaching strategies, we aim to promote self-evaluation cycle mechanism for planning, implementing and evaluation to strengthen teamwork and teaching effectiveness.
School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Senior form curriculum: Students are required to study four core subjects and two to three elective subjects. On top of that, students can also study an Applied Learning (ApL) course.
2. Curriculum highlights: Our school-based curriculum focused on whole-person education and diversified development. Highlights of junior form curriculum: STEAM Education, Technology & Living and Technology Education are offered in the junior forms to enhance students’ interest in STEAM & Technology, cultivate their problem-solving skills, and inspire students’ different potentials. Applied Learning (ApL) courses are offered in the senior forms which aim to develop students’ knowledge, skills, attitudes and values through application and theory linked to professional and vocational fields.
Development of the Four Key Tasks:
1. Reading to Learn: The school actively cultivates students' reading interest and habits. Morning reading sessions are held every week. Various types of reading award schemes and reading promotion activities are organized.
2. Project Learning: Project Learning is incorporated in different Key Learning Areas (KLAs) to enhance students’ independent learning capabilities and self-directed learning abilities.
3. Civic and Moral Education: Tung Wah Moral Education curriculum is implemented. The School strives to develop students’ positive values and healthy lifestyles through various school activities and talks etc.
4. Information Technology for interactive learning: Online learning platforms and various information technology software and hardware used for e-learning have also been continuously optimized to facilitate e-learning. A STEAM Creative Learning Centre is set up to promote STEAM education. Through the junior form school-based STEAM curriculum and various activities, students' ability to use Information Technology for interactive learning is enhanced.
Life Planning Education:
Our school-based career and life-planning curriculum provides systematic, informative and interactive guidance activities to our S.1-S.6 students to enhance their understanding of career and life planning. Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
In addition to the Guidance Unit and the school social workers, the educational psychologists and the speech therapists of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals also assist and support students and provide them with appropriate help and services. Student Learning surveys at different levels are regularly conducted to understand the learning habits of individual students. Appropriate teaching strategies that suit the needs of students are adopted. In recent years, the School has actively implemented STEAM Education, self-directed learning and e-learning programmes to help students learn more effectively. Differentiated learning materials are provided in different subjects to cater for the learning needs of students.
Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
The school adopts a “Whole School Approach” to Integrated Education and provides comprehensive support for students with special education needs. The school has set up a Student Support Team with members including the Vice Principals, SEN Coordinator, Guidance Mistress, Prefect of Studies, SEN Support Teacher, Educational Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Counsellor and Teaching Assistants, etc. to devise appropriate support plans for SEN students. The school caters for students' learning needs through curriculum design, diversified teaching strategies, differentiated worksheets, and homework & special examination arrangements etc. The school adopts a variety of support modes, including the flexible use of "Learning Support Grant", recruitment of additional teachers and supporting staff, implementation of various training courses and group activities, and outsourcing of professional support services such as speech therapy. Home-School Co-operation:
The School places great emphasis on parent-school communication for establishing a quality learning environment. Our Parent Teacher Association has been established for years and works as a partner with the School. It not only serves as a bridge between the School and parents, but also takes part in policy making, parent education, family activities as well as newsletter publication.

We create a positive and harmonious ethos and practise strict discipline. We aim to provide a warm and caring environment in school with the support of our parents and alumni. 1. Scholarships: For our students, there are various local and overseas scholarships donated by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, our Alumni Association and our Parent-teacher Association. Our school also nominates our students to more than 20 other scholarships each year.
2. Awards: Our students have outstanding performances and won various awards in the competitions of World Robot Olympic Robot, robotics coding, Visual Arts, gymnastics, sports, Scout rowing, choir, Chinese Dancing, Choral Speaking, debates, service learning & drama, etc.
