School Management Organisation:
Led by the Incorporated Management Committee (IMC), school-based management focusing on collaboration is implemented. The executive framework, involving the participation from teachers with different experiences, is operated by establishing both long-term and short-term major concerns followed by regular review for improvements. Much emphasis is put on cooperation with other stakeholders including parents, alumni and the community.

Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
Our school aims to foster students' biliterate and trilingual proficiency.
English is adopted as the medium of instruction in various subjects and levels. (For details, please refer to subjects offered in 2022/23 and subjects to be offered in 2023/24). Besides, English Literature and Media English are adopted as a special school-based curriculum in junior forms to expand students' exposure to English learning. Additional native English teachers are also employed to help enrich the school's English environment.
Learning and Teaching Strategies:
LYC has been actively structuring school-based curriculum, such as Media English and English Literature, and fostering multi-dimensional thinking. Working with tertiary institutes, latest teaching methodologies have been adopted.
To enhance our students' English learning environment, besides school-based English curriculum, the school also works with Toastmasters International to promote English public speaking. To enhance students' reading skills and interest, a whole-school approach has been implemented through programmes like morning reading period, book sharing and other extended reading activities.
The school also actively participates in projects initiated by EDB. Examples include English SEED Project, the Support Scheme for e-Learning in Schools and WiFi as a Service School Partnership Project. With the assistance of the latter two projects, the school has been equipped with Wi-fi Network and granted funding to purchase tablet computers. This helps optimize the full potentials of students with mixed talents.
For developing the STEM education, the school has designed a school-based curriculum, which involves robotic programming, mobile apps design, AR technology, 3D model building and printing, and game development. It is largely a cross-curricular initiative, integrating learning of different subjects such as Science, Design and Visual Arts and Mathematics, through which students' multiple learning skills could be cultivated.
School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 3X. English literature and Media English are included as a school-based junior secondary curriculum.
2. Curriculum highlights: Self-directed learning aims to achieve life-long learning among students’. Through the successful application of “The Support Scheme for e-Learning in Schools” from Education Bureau, we achieve full Wi-Fi coverage at campus. Students are also subsidized for the purchase of tablet computers. With the efficient use of online resources, learning effectiveness of our students are significantly boosted. Besides doing projects at school, our students actively take part in Fun With Learning, a project competition and have obtained overall championships in many years. Their project learning skills have been well recognized.
To enhance the English learning environment, the school has developed two school-based curricula, namely, English Literature and Media English. For extra-curricular activities, English speaking workshops, English Fun Days and English drama performance are organized regularly. Overseas study tours are also conducted every year to countries like the UK and Australia, which facilitate students' better understanding of different cultures and enhance their language skills. Since 2008, we have been joining exchange student program through which our students can interact with foreign students and benefit from the cultural exchange.
In terms of gifted education, a school-based project has been implemented, nurturing students' potential from an early stage in F1. Elite students will be subsidized to take part in gifted education programmes organized by universities, where they have opportunities to interact with elite students from other schools. For International Olympiads, our students have won 1st class awards in Mathematics, Biology and Science.
Development of the Four Key Tasks:
Project Learning: To enhance students’ research and investigative abilities through taking part in territory-wide project learning competitions.
Reading: Reading Promotion Team is responsible for coordinating and organizing school reading activities. Activities like Morning Reading Session and book sharing boost reading atmosphere of the school with great success.
Information Technology: The STEM LAB has been established to promote students' and teachers' knowledge in the areas of Science, Maths and Technology, and boost students' learning motivation and creativity.
Moral and Civic Education: Morning Assembly, Life Education lessons and school activities as well as seminars are organized to nurture students’ positive values and guide students to set personal goals.
Professional Development: Through systematic staff development activities, the school provides ample opportunities for teachers to develop their expertise.
Life Planning Education:
The school has adopted a whole-school approach to promote life planning activities. Firstly, class-based or form-based Life Education lessons are arranged to provide a variety of activities related to life planning. Alumni are also invited to give talks to share their career experiences and up-to-date information about further studies. The concepts and application of life planning are also integrated into the formal curriculum of Liberal Studies. We participate in a lot of activities in collaboration with different companies through the Business-school Partnership Program and they enable our students to experience authentic working environment. Through cooperation and liaison with education organisations, the school has developed a tailor-made professional development plan and organized school-based professional exchanges, including seminars and workshops. Teachers are also encouraged to actively take part in professional development beyond the school, such as external seminars and overseas excursion.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
Through a range of extra-curricular activities, students are encouraged to engage themselves in life-wide learning within and beyond the campus. Within the school, there are activities based on 4 houses, 5 uniform teams, over 40 clubs and various interest groups. English Public Speaking Club has been established and invited well-known public speaking personalities to enhance students’ public speaking skills. Regarding sports, we offer special training for elite teams and have won numerous awards in the Inter-School Athletics Competition and Inter-School Volleyball Competition.
