Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2023 ).Our school places heavy emphasis on the all-rounded development of students. To apply for a place at our school, all three elements, namely moral standard, intelligence and motor skills will be considered. Selection criteria include interview performance, academic performance, personal strengths, services, performance in extra-curricular activities and conduct. Weighting: Interview (appearance, attitude and verbal response) accounts for 50% of the total marks in admission assessment. Academic performance (primary six internal academic result) accounts for 30%. Personal strengths, services, performance of extra-curricular activities and conduct account for the remaining 20%.

The school organises an orientation day for the new Secondary 1 students and parents every year. This is to enhance communication and understanding between parents and the school. It also helps new students settle in, know the teachers and the school campus.

School Facilities (for Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs)
Our school is a 5-storey building. With the addition of a new wing, we have a total of 27 regular classrooms and 14 special rooms, including Maker+ Space and multi media learning centre. The hall, all classrooms and all special rooms are air-conditioned. All classrooms and special rooms are equipped with intranet cables connected to the school server. Also, all classrooms and special rooms are equipped with LCD TV and LCD projectors, which give greater convenience for teaching and learning and facilitate the use of technology in the classroom. Our school will renovate thoroughly the computer room and design and technology room to facilitate the implementation of Maker Plus education in order to provide students with more excellent learning environment and to comply with the promotion of Maker Plus education. We have more than 100 tablets for students to use in classroom learning and our teachers are experienced in IT education.

The school has set up the Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) in February 2006. The membership includes representatives from the school management, principal, teachers, parents, alumni and independent individuals. The IMC holds meetings three times a year to monitor school-development plans, discuss and pass budget proposals, supervise personnel deployment and evaluate the efficiency of work.

An environmental policy has been issued on the campus, including an environmental education plan, energy conservation policy, cleanliness of the campus and greening of the campus. Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
Chinese is the medium of instruction in the junior forms. Some of the junior classes and some topics in Geography and Integrated Science will be taught in English. In Chinese, English and Mathematics, students will be taught in different groups according to their learning abilities in junior forms. Same strategy will be adopted in Chinese, English, Mathematics and Liberal studies subjects in senior forms. To raise the language standard of the students, the school organises a wide range of activities including extensive reading scheme in Chinese and English, participation in the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, learning English through songs and debates etc.
Learning and Teaching Strategies:
We aim to:
1. Cater for learning differences and develop each child's full potential to ensure an all-rounded education.
2. Nurture students' generic skills and raise their self-confidence through various teaching modes.
3. In order to put into practice the education belief of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and the catering for students learning diversity, our school in the year of 2018-19 will implement the stratified teaching in the subjects of the Chinese Language, the English Language and the Mathematics with streaming and adjusted curriculum design, enabling students of diverse ability to achieve learning experience of success.

5. To Cater for learner differences, curriculum tailoring is a strong focus aiming to suit students' individual needs and promote successful learning experiences. Most subjects are divided into core and extended curriculum. Teachers employ diverse teaching strategies based on the ability of the students.
School-based curriculum:
1. Electives: 3X. The electives subject include history, economics, physics, biology, physical education, Chinese history, geography, chemistry, business, accounting and financial studies, visual arts and Tourism and Hospitality Studies.
2. Curriculum highlights: English teaching classes consisting of 10-15 students per class are set up for junior form students to study Life and Society, Science and Geography in English. School-based curriculum is integrated into every subject to cope with the development of NSS curriculum and assessment. The school is funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and implements the course of "Maker +" in the 17-18 school year. The course aims to enhance students' empathy, creative thinking and problem-solving skills. The course will gradually expand to the junior form (Secondary 1 to Secondary 3).
Development of the Four Key Tasks:
Much has been done by the school to promote the development of the four key tasks in the education reform. We provide students with various learning experiences, develop their generic skills and consolidate the concepts of life-wide learning and all-rounded education. Our Moral and Civic Education is developed in accordance with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals' mission to nurture students to be a global citizen. The school actively implements eLearning and self-regulated learning. The school is selected to be 'Samsung Smart School' to widen the scope of eLearning. The school has joined the EDB's 'Support Scheme for e-Learning in Schools' so that high speed WiFi has been available anywhere in the campus to facilitate the development of eLearning. Besides, reading scheme and project based learning are integrated into every subject.
Life Planning Education:
The school actively promotes career planning and provides students with multiple paths for development, and cooperates with Tung Wah pragramme My Way to promote a set of career planning courses for students from junior high school to senior high school, so as to understand themselves and the relationship between careers and disciplines, and cultivate students' ability to learn life planning. Our school actively participates in the Wharf Group's School Start-up Program, arranging students to visit the daily operations and workplace experience of different industry organizations, so that students can build the ability to plan, implement plans and reflect, and enhance students' ability and confidence to realize their dreams. In addition, it also provides high school students with multiple ways of career guidance. Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
To cater for learner diversity, teachers set learning objectives, content and teaching activities based on students' individual ability, so as to increase learner interest and motivation. Streaming policy is adopted to cater for learner diversity in the following three subjects, Chinese language, English language and Mathematics in all the levels.
The school implements small class teaching. To enhance the support to students, our school applies double class master system to all forms and after-school tutorial programme to junior forms.

Home-School Co-operation:
The Parent Teacher Association is in its twenty-two year of operation. In these years, it has served as a bridge between parents and the school. It has shown the spirit of home-school cooperation.
School Ethos:
1. The school values an all-rounded education for students to develop their full potential so that they can serve society based on the spirit of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. The Caring Group for Student Development coordinates various activities which focus on caring the students' individual needs and the use of resources.
2. The school employs a full time social worker to help teachers formulate and promote activities.
3. Education Psychologists from the Tung Wah Group visit the school regularly to provide professional counseling services for students in need.

Future Development
School Development Plan:
Our main concern is to make teaching learner-centered so that students' full potential can be developed. Besides we are a science-rich academy with additional resources for enriching science literacy among students. Based on students' ability, each lesson is tailor-made. A "five-step" approach is employed. First, teacher will follow-up the pre-lesson assignment with students, which is followed by some motivation activities. The teaching objective is clearly stated then. What follows is an interactive teaching mode. Each lesson ends with a consolidation of the items covered. With this approach, learning motivation is enhanced. Besides, our school helps students to nurture good moral values. They are encouraged to learn actively. Teaching effectiveness is further strengthened by various teaching modes.
Teacher Professional Training and Development:
The school actively promotes the professional development of teachers to enhance teaching effectiveness. Teachers collaboratively prepare teaching materials, take part in peer lesson observation and share sessions to enhance professional development. The EDB supports the development of our school-based Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Science curriculum. It also helps strengthen the implementation of inquiry-based learning and project-based learning in Science.
