Orientation Activities and Healthy Living

With the aim of helping S.1 students adapt to secondary school life, a series of programmes, such “Learning is Fun”, Summer Bridging Courses in Chinese, English and Mathematics, S.1 Orientation Camp and Freshmen Counseling Activities etc., have been organized.

Through the regular reminders given by our Health Education Committee, we strive to raise our students’ awareness on personal and public hygiene, and help them develop positive habits and attitudes on it. School Management Organisation:
Under the authorization of the IMC, the school's principal manages the school and sets up the School Policies and Finance Committee to liaise with and coordinate school departments and affairs. Simultaneously, the coordinators of Learning & Teaching and Curriculum Development Committee and the Students Affairs Committee will formulate policies to coordinate daily operation of the school.

Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee:
Our school has been practising School-based Management for more than a decade and we have established the Incorporated Management Committee (IMC), which is composed of the School principal, a teacher manager, a parent manager, an alumni manager, an independent manager as well as sponsoring body managers. The IMC aims at formulating educational measures to maximize learning outcomes for the students.

School Green Policy:
A technician has been assigned to handle non-recyclable materials regularly at school. Besides, our school has renewed the sensing faucets for water saving. Also, we actively encourage students to participate in school-based environmental activities like 'hydroponic cultivation', 'environmental ambassadors' and 'school recycling education campaign' for cultivating students' environmental awareness and put the theories and ideas into practice.

Learning and Teaching Plan

Whole-school Language Policy:
With the aim of strengthening students’ language foundation and knowledge, our School adopts a ‘Whole-school Language Policy’. To enrich students’ vocabulary bank, the Chinese Language Department puts forward reading schemes. Besides, the English Department has also implemented ‘Practical English for Daily Living’ Scheme to strengthen students’ spoken English. On top of that, Schemes of Cross-Curriculum Reading and Theme-based Reading are also put into practice to cultivate students' interest in reading.

Learning and Teaching Strategies:
An array of policies listed below are implemented to promote active learning.
1. Theme-based learning, project-based learning and e-learning are adopted to facilitate cooperative learning and self-directed learning of students. 2. To align with the School’s Creative and Performing Arts Program, elements of creative and performing arts are integrated into Chinese, English, Visual Arts and Music in junior forms to arouse students' interests in language learning. In senior forms, Creative and Performing Arts is introduced as an independent subject which provide systematic and organized training of creative arts in a professional fashion. 3. To raise students’ interests and motivation in learning, small-group teaching, STEM activities, after-school supplementary classes, film shows, internal and external competitions and seminars are organized.

2. Curriculum highlights: Our school advocates the model of ‘Ternary Education’ and utilizes the elements of ‘Academic – Creativity – Youth Training’ in our curriculum. On top of maintaining the academic standard of our students, multidisciplinary and professional courses, including 'Tung Chi Ying Football Programme' and 'Creative and Performing Arts Programme', are organized to cater for their diversified talents and educational needs. By educating in accordance with students' individual needs, students are given ample capacity to develop their potentials and excel in their extraordinary talents.

Development of the Four Key Tasks:
1. Project Learning: Through Inquiry Learning and interdisciplinary studies, students are given chances to cooperate, communicate, resolve conflicts, and bring into play the spirit of collaboration among the members of the group. Their creativity, ability of critical/discerning thinking, problem solving skills, confidence and responsibility are also cultivated, building the basis of lifelong learning.
2. Information Technology for Interactive Learning: Projection equipment alongside the MDM system for tablets are installed in the school. An operational archive server and SMARK data analysis system are also in service. For e-learning, training courses were organized on Staff Development Days for professional training. Mirror projection is available in every classroom for tablets. To facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration with the use of IT, a VR classroom is also set up. During the suspension, on top of the swift set up of online assignment platform, workshops on e-learning were also organized to equip teachers with the knowledge needed.
3. Reading across the Curriculum: Through reading, students can build knowledge and master the ability of lifelong learning. Reading classes are conducted in junior forms to promote reading, students can acquire and use library skills and develop good reading habits. Teachers of all subjects can have sharing under the ‘Morning Reading Scheme’. Students can learn from different subjects and broaden their vision. STEM studies are also utilized to link different areas of learning, integrating student’s knowledge of the subjects.
4. Moral and Civic Education: A 'whole-school' approach is adopted. This year, with the theme of 'Being Grateful and Positive', our school continues to carry out different campaigns to build cultures of care, respect and gratefulness. There are campaigns like Inter-class Board Design Competition, Proverbs of Gratitude Writing Competition, Gratitude Education (DIY crafts, Writing cards and showing videos etc.) and Environmental Education. Students will eventually take action and show care to the community. Assemblies, recess and lunch time are also utilized to promote positive education.

Life Planning Education:
With the Career and Life Planning Grant, our school employs a Career and Life Planning Counselor to arrange on-site workplace visits, various certificate courses, and job tasting programs, etc. for our students. In addition, Study Tours to Universities in the Mainland, Singapore, and Taiwan are organized with an aim to extend and deepen students' knowledge and understanding of career planning, allowing them to understand their abilities, career/academic pursuits, and cultivate positive attitudes toward work and study. Moreover, a 'Career Planning Studio' with virtual reality equipment is set up to aid students understand the information of education and employing in multiple perspectives, such as ‘University or Workplace Experience’. The studio allows Career and Life Planning Ambassadors and other students to participate in different types of activities around the clock.

Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
Our School is determined to foster the culture of integration and various support services (social groups, career planning experience groups, study groups and outdoor learning days) are organized to cater for the diverse educational needs of students. Also, a school-based educational psychologist and a school-based speech therapist will update psychological reports of these students and provide timely advice and support for them.

Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Our School supports students with students with special educational needs and weak performance by the following: 1. A student support team led by the Vice Principal cooperates with the Assistant Principal, the School Guidance Coordinator, the SENCO, the Education Psychologist, the speech therapist and the SEN Learning Support Counselors to assist teachers in taking care of the individual differences among students. 2. Joining 'Enhancing School-based Speech Therapy Service' to provide related therapy or training according to the needs of the students. 3. Organizing integration activities to promote inclusive culture. 4. Provide practical training to the teachers for supporting students' mental problems. 5. Purchasing ' Career Planning Service' to help students know oneself and participate in Job Tasting Programmes. 6.Organizing outdoor training activities to encourage students' participation in school events for building supportive relationships between students and creating a harmonious and caring school culture. 7.Implementing 'Personal Growth Guidance Scheme' for teachers to meet students regularly and to set goals and practical ways for developing one's career plan. Home-School Co-operation and School Ethos

Home-School Co-operation:
Our school places a heavy emphasis on parent-school collaboration through different means such as school notices, newsletters, school's website, seminars, parent-teacher meetings and Parents Days with the aim of ensuring that parents are crystal clear about the school's policies, latest development and visions. This year, Our School will continue to utilize the 'School App' system to further strengthen ties and communication between parents and the school.

School Ethos:
We emphasize the importance of moral and ethical education and advocate the belief - 'To discipline with love, To pursue value addedness'. Character education is fostered through various activities, such as "Light of Dawn" Remedial Scheme, Volunteer Activities, Adventure-based Counseling and Leadership Training. It is our goal to help students develop good ethics and discipline, as well as the ability to face and overcome adversities positively.
In order to strengthen the care for students, the system of two class teachers and a form coordinator in each form is adopted for S.1 to S.6. Classroom Management is also adopted in each class to improve the discipline and moral standard of our students. Together with regular communication with parents, cooperation between parents and the school is promoted and students' growth and development are benefited.

Future Development

School Development Plan:
Our School advocates ‘Ternary Education’, which places equal emphasis on ‘Academics – Creativity – Youth Training’.
Academics: The ‘Through Train To the University’ Programme aims to extend opportunities for our graduates to university admissions through collaboration with universities and tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, Taiwan and overseas, through ‘priority entrance interviews’ and ‘conditional university offers’.
Creativity: Applying the resources from our professionally furnished and equipped film and television training and production centre, the Creative and Performing Arts Program (CPA) is offered as a regular school-based elective subject. The program aims to cultivate solid knowledge and appreciation of the performing arts with a broad range of related studies in (i) script writing, (ii) drama interpretation, (iii) cinematography and lens use & (iv) post-production. By compiling the creativity elements in our regular lessons, CPA increases the interests and learning performance of the students and provides a wide range of university and career Opportunities.
Youth Training: To develop diverse intelligence for students, we offer ‘Tung Chi Ying Football Programme’ (TCYFP) in our school. Alongside the football training provided by Liverpool FC International Academy (HK), our students gain the opportunity to learn about professional football skills. Students with excellent performance will join the 'Kichee Programme' organized by Kitchee Sports Club and it helps them gain the opportunity to balance their academic and physical development. On one hand, TCYFP allows students to gain professional football knowledge and training. On the other hand, their opportunities for university entrance are tremendously raised and career prospects are opened up.

Teacher Professional Training and Development:
This year, the goal of our school's Professional Development Days is 'to cultivate oneself, put family in order and teach students with excellence'. Our teachers are expected to develop "T-standard+" and training related to education policies and the development of our country. To cope with the ever-changing societal and educational needs, teachers are encouraged to improve their professionalism through continuous learning and attending seminars and workshops organized by the EDB, local universities and educational organizations. Internally, peer lesson observations and collaboration schemes are implemented to enable teachers to share teaching methodologies and ideas for better teaching effectiveness. On top of performance-appraising lesson observations, non-appraising observations are conducted to promote the culture of peer learning. Purchasing of lesson reviewing services from external organizations is also within our plan. With emphasis on professional development, we offer training, mentorship programs and orientation workshops for new teachers to understand the vision of our school and the features of 'Ternary Education'.

Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
An array of diverse learning-oriented and regular extra-curricular activities, such as leather goods manufacturing class, cookery class and indoor shooting course are organized to enrich students' ‘Life- wide learning for the Five Essential Learning Experiences' in Moral and Civic Education, Community Service, Career-related Experiences, Aesthetic Development and Physical Development. In addition, teacher-student party, STEM education activities, vocational visits, volunteer team, training camps and outward bound activities are organized to extend students' potentials and abilities. This year, our school introduces two projects, namely 'Tung Chi Ying Football Programme' and 'Creative and Performing Arts Programme’ to further stretch students' potentials and interests.
